Hi Walnut, many thanks for the info.:)I expect as usual it will be a cloudy night,it usually is when something good is going to happen.

We only have a small telescope that we use for birdwatching although in the past Mr Kandy has been able to show me the rings of Saturn and some of the moons of Jupiter all of which we found awsome.

I loved it when we had the Comets come round and we used to love to see the little kids faces when we used to go out for walks in the early evening and could point them out to them.I always think it is a shame when people walk round with their heads down and never look up to see what is happening in the sky in either daylight or the evening. This is a good time for us because when we do our evening walks we often see satellites go over or meteors fall to earth, somehting else that many people miss:flag:

We had a drop dead gorgeous clear sunnt day until about an hour before sunset when patch clouds started to appear. However did manage to capture a few pics through the occasional gap. Slight haze present all the time prevented me getting anything really sharp.

Many thanks indeed Walnut for bringing the event to everyones attention. I'd never have known about it otherwise:gnthb:

Blurred Venus in this next one is probably due to slight camera shake when the mirror flipped. Next time I really must remember to use lock-up.

Great shots Dave well isn't it typical as you say mostly clear until just before sunset then cloud moving in, I could see the sky was clear to the south so loaded up with rucksack and camera pedalled off to the south of Warrington through the rush hour and ended up on a country road with a clear view but encroaching cloud here are my humble results until cloud stopped play.

The moon and Jupiter,Venus is eclipsed by the moon

Special effects car zooming past as I took this one

Venus still hidden thick cloud at the back of me moving in

At last Venus just starting to show about twenty past on the moon

    Looks like a diamond ring

Last shot before the cloud moved over Venus just clear with Jupiter looking on

Worth the effort W and thanks for all the hard work in bringing these pictures to us. I was tucked in my conservatory with the door open looking at it.

Well getting on yer bike was worth it Walnut. What a set of super pics. The 'special effects' one is great and the 'diamond ring' effect is really something special.
There was nae chance of me capturing Venus and the moon coming close as even if the clouds had cleared the moon was moving behind a big tree in a neighbours garden.

Oh wow! I saw the moon and Venus this evening as I was walking home. I didn't realise Jupiter was up there too!
I was thinking that the cresent moon and star must be significant to Moselms.
