Nutty, this looks beautiful. The combination of Venus and a rainbow effect low in the sky will get my pulses racing! Not sure if my binocs are up to it though! Thanks for the info Nut :)

Couldn't see it in my bino's cookie looked good in my scope but haven't got an adapter for my camera you need to see it pretty close to the horizon difficult for me in a built up area, bit awkward lugging my scope to the countryside.

A nice clear moon this evening. Instead of zooming out to the max I thought I'd try backing off a bit to see if I could improve on sharpness. I think it may have helped a bit (not much though!). Pic has been sharpened and tinted slightly.

(just had a thought - that's 7469 photos taken since I got the new camera last May. Just as well I don't have to pay for film and d&P!)

Looks good Dave it is sharper.:gnthb: the crater mid left Dionysus shows its shadow well.

Very nice too WOO. Looks like one of your sharpest so far. Were you using a 300m lens?

This evening about 9.00pm against a sky that was still blue.
I think that's the Montes Appeninus in the top third.

    Ta Rosa!
Woo - It was f11 @ 1/20th second, ISO 200. I used mirror lock-up and remote lead to help reduce shake. I find it quite difficult to get focus spot on at full zoom as the slightest touch can throw it out. The lens was a Canon EF70-300 f4-5.6 IS USM.

Super shot as usual Dave:gnthb:,yes you are right the Montes Apenninus mountain range stretches from the Eratosthenes crater (bottom left just on the edge of the terminator) to the upper right. In the upper part of the photo, the largest crater is Archimedes with Aristillus above and to the right and the smaller Autolycus below, those three distinctive craters make it easy to spot.

Thanks for that info Walnut. I find identifying lunar features quite difficult using the map I've got.
