Which, to my mind, is going on in virtually every job you can think of, which is why we end up having so much immigration.
Everyone seems to want to sit on their ar*e all day, and spend the evenings in the gym.

Just after I left school, all the emphasis from the careers advisors seemed to be on training to be a lawyer, for the ultimate job. Low hours, high money, neat lifestyle.....it's no wonder there are several generations who don't fancy being nurses or artisans... Or that the UK has become a 'sue or be damned' paradise.

Dare I say it, but quite a lot of people have been over educated.
I like the old saying, "educated beyond their intelligence".
Not sure who said it now, but it surely fits

Resurrecting this thread again, sorry to keep banging on about it.

4 weeks ago I made an appointment to see my GP, the best one I could get, "late in the day":snorky: was 3pm on May 4th it was mostly for a usual 6 monthly check on blood pressure etc.

Soon after that my back did a wobbler on me, consequently, after wards I'm off work, been off since last wednesday, so after the few days of self certification I need to see the Doc for a sick note, personally I'd prefer to get back to work.

Called today and actually got through on the phone:yikes:, no chance of getting a sooner appointment, with another Doc next appointment 9th May, my Doc 14th May.

I was told to turn up on Friday at 8.30 and ask for a 5 minute slot sometime that day.

Went passed the surgery at 9am last week and the queue was out the door and down the street.

Just hope its not raining on Friday morning.:frown:

Hello @pete my friend I received a letter telling me it was time for my yearly check up,I phoned 6 times in the last two weeks each time same message, the lines are busy finally got through to day end of June was the earliest, also phoned for a blood test told the earliest was July,as there is a backlog ,decided to go down the local vampire clinic, opened at 8am got there at 7 30am the queue was 35 people long, doors opened at 8.15am went in usually have to take a numbered ticket from the machine,it was broke,as each person came out they had to shout out the next number,I sat there until 10.30am and to had to the confusion one of the chaps called out the wrong number and that caused total chaos,I eventually got in there at 11am , I came out ,the place was still full up with many people having to stand,as they close at 11.30am most of the people were told to return the next day.

Its a sad reflection as I was told that it is like this every day:dunno::frown:

ps.out of 6 GP's at our practice two have taken early retirement due to stress related problems 4 GP's with 12,000 patients what can you expect.

Some parts of the NHS are good @wiseowl , but the bit most of us see is pretty awful in my opinion.
I think unless you are dying they dont do much, getting past the GP stage is often the most difficult part, and getting past the GPs receptionist is probably the hardest part of the lot.;)

NHS budget last year £120 BILLION POUNDS !

Last year alone they managed to kill 45,000 people who had treatable sepsis?

They do a lot of good but they also do an huge amount badly.
