It's the same here Pam. All our road/street lights are out at 12.30am and the night sky is amazing on a cloudless day. It would be impossible to count the stars you can see. :)

I was wrong Armandii, looks like it was a Meteor after all.

Thanks for that Zigs. Wish I'd have seen it. You can make a wish if you see one can't you?

Thanks Zigs :) I've bookmarked that link, and passed it on to Mrs C as the telescope is really her baby. I can tell that (like gardening) its a hobby that could easily get very very expensive.

So it was a meteor that Armandii saw then? Incredible - wish I'd seen it!

Looks that way, wish i'd seen it too.

Talking of space, they've discovered the building blocks of life in a cloud round a nearby star. Making it all the more likely that we are not alone.

I still have a clear vision in my head (you don't want to spend too much time in there, i'm telling you:snork:) of the first one I saw.

I was sat in a pub beer garden in 1985, right in the middle of an arguement with the girlfriend, I looked to the skies for a sign & got one in the form of a girt big flaming bolide burning and twisting across the heavens. I said, "Wow, did you see that?" She said, "Don't change the subject!"

I still remember seeing a shower of meteorites across the northern sky going westward on a clear November evening just after we, as parents had attended a parents' open evening at school. A real stream of them - wonderful sight. Circa 1967 and still quite clear in my mind.

I had a bit of a faff about with the telescope earlier, and took some more photos through the telescope - not its intended use admittedly, but interesting all the same:

Went to see if they'd sold the £800 one (they had) But I saw this Nickel Iron one for a Tenner, couldn't resist it.
