Biggest Pumpkins still weigh less than my biggest Marrow, but at least they're still putting on weight

Hooray, I've finally managed to upload an image to GC after umpteen failed attempts.

Now to try and remember what I lost in the lost saved drafts

Blimey, they should be way over 60lb by now. Keep at it though, I reckon any fruit on this an obvious bad year....is a good fruit.

        Steve...:)

The 2 biggest (A & C) hadn't grown any more in 26 hours when I checked today, hope it's a temporary blip, but the 2 smallest (B1 & B2) are still putting on the pounds.

            Are you feeding every day?

I'm feeding twice a week with Tomato Feed - I wonder if I should feed more?

Did you plant them in pits full of well rotted manure/compost/BF&B/etc?

I did and I'm feeding about twice a week at main root and every other day along along buried stems (good job I've got a vast stock of Wilko clearance stuff) and watering every day unless it rains. Been doing that (+ measuring every day) with 3 Pumpkin plants, 4 Marrows, a block of giant sweetcorn, a polytunnel full of big tomatoes and umpteen long runner beans, will be glad when it's all over.

No, had no time to do that so just added a sprinkle of growmore and that's all. Since then I've been using liquid feeds, Miraclegro to begin with and since the fruits are developing: Chempak Tomato Feed.

Mine's still growing at an inch/day (girth). Looking back to previous years it's about now that mine stop due to the cold.

Put a piece of roofing fabric to stop the main stem rubbing against the side:

Got a smaller one on the second plant, only 28" girth:

I only got myself a tape last year, previously I used a length of string then measured that against a steel tape measure.

I might put blankets on 2 of them and see if that helps.

I've got a 10 foot/3 metre plastic tape for pumpkins, plus a load of 5 foot tapes that I leave under big marrows to check increase in girth each day.

Best pumpkin now approx. 77lbs (horiz gth = 61", stem - flwr OTT = 39" & side - side OTT = 47") , daily growth varies from nil to eratic. Have given up feeding and watering every day, just going to water now when looking dryish as it's a waste of time and money for the size they're going to achieve and there's more than enough for all of our curried pumpkin soup needs this winter.

Hey guys I have been to the plot and the pumpkin seams to be putting on about 4-5 lb a day so moving really slow think it's about 78 lb from the measurements
