Pretty boring as my username is just my initials. The avatar is a good likeness of me partaking of my favourite pastime, drinking tea.

My second career and the the one that I most enjoyed and found so fulfilling was in Early Years Care And Education, it was quite an achievement, I felt, obtaining the 2 sets of qualifications as I had my own 3 hatchlings all within 4 years...and 2 weeks to be precise :heehee: , of each other...the two younger ones were only 15 months apart..so quite a challenge to combine motherhood ,studying and then attending college in the evenings after hubs came home. All in all it took about 4 years in total. I was originally planning on finding a school based job or opening up my own nursery but as I couldn't bear to be parted from my own ' adorable darlings' I decided to open up my own day care setting from home for pre school children. I also undertook some respite care at weekends to give families a well earned break from caring for their children with additional needs, allowing them also time to give their other children their undivided attention.
This I enjoyed for 24 years, then I decided it was time to turn my home back to a ....home!.... instead of an OFSTED rated Outstanding Setting with all the additional health and safety regulations in place to ensure the safekeeping of very young and vulnerable tots.
So I ended my career working from the home of one of my family 's as their children's Nanny..fabulous experience...and so nice to come home to a tidy house at the end of a long day!!

So my username....my all time favourite character from the children's programme In The Night Garden

My avatar is random pics of my favourite pastime now in retirement....my garden!

Pretty boring really, my username is simply the formal version of my Greek name and means "victory of the people", "Nike" meaning victory and "Laos" meaning people. My avatar is the only Meadow Brown butterfly to visit my garden so far and is feeding from one of my buddleias. I change avatars occasionally but usually have butterflies, as attracting butterflies seems to be the main focus of my horticultural efforts nowadays.

I´m not sure if I´ve spelt it right, but Giri is Spanish slang for a (usually) English immigrant, typically the sort that complains they have been visiting the same Spanish hotel every year for twenty years, and they still can´t speak English.
However, it should be emphasised that as soon as you make an attempt at Español, you are treated like one of the family, this is a very friendly place.
The avatar is a detail from the last pair of gates I made before retiring, they are in the Lancashire village where I grew up, so it was a nice commission to finish with, and typical of my approach.

Thank you Upsydaisy, it´s obvious that Guiris can´t spell.
However, since I have learned everything from mistakes, and nothing from success, I shall wear my typo like a crown !

Most definitely @Giri ....the mistakes we make in life make us into the people we are.

About 15 years ago I was joining a local town forum and needed a user-name
Glancing out of the window I saw my Cordyline plant; since abbreviated to Cordy and used on a few forums that I visit

Made the Avatar on Corel Paintshop pro; a cheap photo editing package

Here is a view from the same window yesterday
