If we did manage to get the Energy Companies to pay for the smart meters directly all that would happen is the price of energy would rise to pay for it, we would pay the higher costs, and the Government would get even more taxes to subsidise the MP's Bar Bill.
It always makes me chuckle when I see the offers for articles where it says "free postage"..........all that is happening is that the postage costs are priced into the price you're paying:wallbanging::dunno::heehee:

Chicken thighs x 5 or 6 @£1.50 and £1.49 at sainsburys and Tesco respectively. Someone might have spotted it and posted, so ignore if you have seen it. Too good not to post as they can be so expensive. Galia melon @90 at Tesco.

How much per kilo @alp I need thighs this week usually buy a months supply,I usually go to Lidl or Aldi for mine around £1.85 per k, packs sold as a kilo, I can find some with up to 8 in a pack, but, i am looking for maximum of 6 as I find the 8s too small, I feed my dog one a day and end up giving her 2 if tiny.
Edited looked at tosco and cheapest per kilo was £1.99

I know. A little chicken costs £2.39 in Aldi/Lidl and yet it costs much more in Tesco or Sainsburys. I'm lucky that I can walk to Aldi as well. But I prefer Lidl which seems to have a nice staff policy and wage philosophy and it's a shame that I have to take a bus or go there by car.

Tesco have now reduced lots of Belvita biscuits from £2.59 to £1.20, making them 55p/packet after using the 65p vouchers from the current Tesco magazine. We are still getting them at 35p by Brand Guarantee price matching against Asda, but will get some more for our daughter's uni hamper without the faffing around to get that extra 20p off. As we got 79p off the rest of our shopping with every single one of the 160 cartons of breakfast drinks that'll go with them, I think we can cope with the additional 20p/packet cost of half a dozen packets of biscuits.

P.S. Sainsburys are no longer selling Kelly's ice cream for £2, so no more free tubs of ice cream :frown: Although we have a chest freezer full of the stuff, we still feel hard done by because we have one £2 off coupon left, despite not having any freezer space left for any more (we have 5 freezers).

@Scrungee Thankfully, my son has just come back from uni and has finished the whole course. So no more panic for uni hamper. AND he always had his stuff consumed by ghosts who were active at night.

I panicked every time he's home for more food and lamented when I had too many reduced lovely apples, eggs and yet he wouldn't be coming home for another week. Last night, I had a lovely pork joint for £1.10 reduced from probably £5.. so pleased.

We have our vast stash in a Google docs spreadsheet so our daughter can check online what's available to be delivered for free next time we pick up/drop off, but she bargain hunts and buys reduced non-perishables for us (including gardening stuff) to pick up when we bring her home, although she charges us for them and gives me the Wilko bargains as Xmas and birthday presents.

My son also "bargain" hunted and paid 15p for a satsuma! :wallbanging::wallbanging:

That's boy for you. But he's got to be trained somehow.

Missed the putting out of the 75% off dented tins and torn packets etc. by only a few minutes this morning (we timed our dental appointments to give us a good chance of being there at just the right time) and vgot beaten to all the tea bags and most of the bog rolls, but still got a trolley load of other 75% off stuff.

After doing our elderly neighbours' shopping went back to see if anything else had been added and found masses of 80% off 'world foods' stuff, mainly Indian curry sauces, chilli & garlic sauces, jars of garlic paste, etc.

Bought a couple of dozen pouches of the various curry sauces reduced to 25p each as they have UBDs of 4/2019, being microwaveable /boil in the bag ideal for camping hols mixed with a frying pan load of homegrown veg, although no doubt our daughter will be after some for her uni hamper.

I bought these 12 rolls for £2 at Tesco today, RRP £6

Don't know the quality, but I'm not going to argue with £2.. Went back for more, but they had all gone!

@Victoria I wish I had had the presence of mind. A staff took about 4 to 6 back to somewhere, as if hoarding them to buy later. An old lady said it was £2 and I was on the £2 off £20 mindset. I was so stupid. In the end, I had to forego cheese, melon (cantaloupe was so cheap 69p!) and got 5. Later, the more I thought about it, the more I wanted. But the boat had sailed.. :wallbanging::wallbanging::wallbanging::wallbanging:

                            Thank you for the reassurance!
