Good idea! I wouldn't mind knowing if some of your tactics to get old seeds germinating will work with other kinds of plant seed. Also I wouldn't mind in future, swapping seeds if GC members manage to grow the "old" Gardeners Delight.

        Yes, please create one.

I'll be posting your seeds 1st this afternoon, plus sowing some of my 2005's and 2007's.

Should I get more than a few of each germinate, I'll offer all spares for somebody going to Shineyland to take for distribution should anybody be interested.

@Scrungee , yes I did find that website and a wander around the Seed Exchange one was fascinating. I’ve already checked to see if the latter posts abroad - no such luck!

I hope that I am not intruding in this thread. Ignore if I am.

I read with interest the comments regarding the reduction of sweetness/ taste of Gardeners Delight over recent years. I have also noticed this and since it was my favourite tom and the only type that we have bothered to grow in our small greenhouse, I recently again purchased seed and they are sprouting now in a heated seed tray. With this current weather, I think that it's a bit early to have sown them.
Now that I see that it's not just my G D't that are becoming tasteless, I thought that I might start over and find another variety to plant. They will be gown in a cold greenhouse but started as the current ones are. I am looking for a small variety that is as sweet as the G D'ts.
Any suggestions would be most welcome.
            Thanks.
            Stony

Just sown some Tumbling Toms - it did well enough last year so I thought I would give them another go. Only sticking to one variety this year.

San Marzano's starting to germinate, just waiting on the Tumbling Toms and Big Zac second sowing. Off topic, 100% germination on my cucumbers:yes:

If I tried germinating cucumbers at this time of year, they would all germinate then all die on the next chilly night, and that would be the case for the next 4 weeks or so.

First time im growing tomatoes. I've potted up a lot of my first batch of plants now. Straight after potting up I've noticed ive lost the first set of leaves on a few, not the false leave which I'm expecting to drop. Is this common? Anything in particular I'm doing wrong?

Im growing these in a window sill and topping up with 3 led lights. I have just upgraded one of the bulbs so hopefully if they weren't getting enough light they will be now. Im also fairly careful with watering and water from the base up.

                          Cheers
                          Mike
