I'm impressed with Dark Galaxy, which is a variety from Brad Gates/Wild Boar Farms. Sweet, tasty and 'silly coloured'.

Red Fig - Very susceptable to greenback, poor flavour, Brix only 4.5 and couldn't pick eithout leaving the calyx behind on the plant which may have been csused by the green back but no other variety was affected.

Yellow Tumbler - I normally grow Red Tumblr but found I had none at sowing time, only yellow. Flavour (as expected for colour) inferior to red tumblers. Brix 5.5

T&M F1 TomatoBerry Tomato 'Berry' F1 Hybrid seeds | Thompson & Morgan Bought at Wyevale for 50p and only got around to trying it this year. Flavour not quite as good as Suncherry, and they need leaving to fully ripen to gain full flavour and sweetness, I thought I was going to be dissapointed when I wad in a hurry to pick my first one. Brix 8.

 

36kg picked so far! Many more to come! Very pleased with this years crop and my work colleagues, family and neighbours are happy too!

I said that I wouldnt do crimson cherry again but I’ve changed my mind. I haven’t grown them as cordon but have let them do their own thing and I’m cropping loads of large sweet cherry toms from them. A bit late to get going unlike their larger cousins Crimson Crush but they are really making up for it now!

 

Mine ( Roma, Ailsa Craig, Black Russian ) are just starting to ripen. Dreading them all ripening together there are 165 at last count that are of ripening size.

Years back when we was teenagers, my dad growed tomatoes and they kept going missing well he was truly baffled ...until he caught her in there munching away to her hearts delight

 

Once again my Shirley tomatoes are amongst the last tomatoes to ripen [1], I keep growing them for tomatoes to enter in our August Bank Holiday village show, and every year they fail to ripen in time.

I must be mental to keep growing them, not a single one is showing any sign of ripening




[1] The others are 'giant' beafsteaks, grown for size, which take longer to grow to maturity, plus those growing them for competition want them to reach maturity at the time of the Autumn shows.

 

Scrungee they may be taking longer to ripen but they're in lovely growth and condition

 

I have been picking shirleys since june, they were sown February

 

Mine were sown in early April. It's too cold for them in my polytunnels until the end of May.

P.S. Yes, I had just been furtling around me spuds.

 

Nowhere near 36kg (wow, Susieshoe!) but they're steadily coming in every three days or so.

 

Blackbirds are tucking in to my tomatoes, including those in the greenhouse. I'm having to take them off when they start to colour up, which kinda defeats the purpose of growing them.
