I received my second ordered packet of Rosada seeds today. The first packet I ordered arrived over a week ago but didn't have an invoice saying who it was from, but by the postage I could tell it was from China and it had 11 seeds in it. Today's packet was from Just Seeds and had a invoice with it and contained 26 seeds. The address of the sender was Brunei, Darussalam, Borneo!. So the first packet of Rosada seeds I ordered and came from China must have come from Seeds Online.
I'll sow the seeds in March, keeping the trays separate marking those that came from China and those that came from Borneo just to see how both do. I only need 3 for the Green House, while keeping some in reserve, as I grow a total of 15 plants in buckets of 5 different Tomato varieties and the rest will go to the local Gardening Annual Sale and some with go South with me to Shiney's Open Day to stick on one of the Stalls.:coffee::snorky:

I started some old beefsteak seeds with little success so bought some "supersteak" seeds at the grocery store. Judging by the description, they are ??? I believe the packet should have read, "big ones, your guess is as good as mine. .. What the heck, put them in soil blocks and see what happens.

Makes it more fun because we all know that nobody died from not having tne biggest :)

Oh deary, deary me...I was only going to grow the usual Grosse Italienne and Coeur de Boeuf (the Sungolds self-sow and come fairly true) but started looking at Plantworld's tomato seed list, glass of dry white in hand. Two hours and €35 later, I'm going to need a bigger polytunnel! I've also got to figure out some way of stopping them all crossing so I can keep true seed for next year

I haven't sown anything yet but decided to sort through a lot of seeds. Can someone direct me to the tomato seed swap thread please? I can't find it. I've got some tomato seeds to give away if anyone wants them?

@Freddy This is what I meant about bluey/green tomato seedlings grown under continuous T5 lighting looking like. These, sown on 28th January have never seen natural daylight, but are nice and stocky, although some varieties may progress to the next stage and get 'scorched' and get thin, pale blotchy leaves that wither.

They look pretty good to me considering they were only sown 17 days ago. I pricked them out this afternoon and have put them under cooler LED lighting inside a window so they'll get around 30% natural sunlight and 70% artificial light and see whether they revert to a more natural green colour.

Each tomato flower is self pollinating, so if you have them in a poly-tunnel with no wind to blow the pollen about and few insects likely to cross-pollinate you will get true seed.

                      Hi noisette 47
I usually tie a paper bag over the truss I want true seed from before flowers open, ensure no insects can get into bag, remove bag once a day and vibrate with old electric toothbrush replace bag. keep doing this until all fruit on that truss is set then remove bag mark truss with coloured wool.
                      Regards Sandy

Early sown Crimson Crush and Orange Paruche pricked out yesterday (only 3 of each for early cuttings).

9 Days later and I think the Micro Toms are looking a bit healthier. I'm already looking out for the first flower buds on them.

Thanks, sandymac and JWK! As the possible cross would be an enormous beefsteak with Sungold cherry toms, the result doesn't bear thinking about :heehee:

And a week later my Micro Toms are even showing their first signs of flower buds (if looking very carefully)

                              Hi Scrungee,

Your Micro Toms look super healthy!
It seems like the amount of light they receive is enough for them at this stage.

When do you plan on transplanting them into bigger pots?
