I have been trying my hand at some genealogy, trying to trace family on my fathers side,it seems to dissapear into India and I am getting nowhere fast,it is driving me mad  I think I will leave it for now until after christmas as my stress levels are starting to rise. I am really enjoying it but its frustrating when you come upon a brick wall. Has anyone else done any researching of their family tree?.

    Hi Dalbuie,
My younger sister in NZ has been tracing our 'roots' for some years. She has managed it all on line. The Census site helped a lot., as most of the people she traced were in the British Isles... we have no illustrious forebears so it all petered out in the 1800s. It helps a great deal if your family have lived in the same area for a long time. Good Luck!

    Hi,
Yes,and have come up a blank on the whereabouts of my great grandmother after 1901. Very frustrating when I realise the info I need could have come from departed family members.
A tip I can offer to help future generation investigators is that we all write on our photo's...Who,Where and When!

My late father started our tree and I'm continueing it. With some help of genealogy forum friends, census and living descendants got back quite a way on my father's side - helped by the fact that they were farmers, and stayed put - family origin zzzomerset. My mother's tree will be a little more difficult cos its both scottish and ceylon. Its great fun especially putting some flesh on the dates.
