What brings the grumpy old git out in me is how many youngsters talk in such a childish accent copied from american soaps.

Oh my god, it's awesome, it so annoys me, they should like totally grow up and all that.

In the part of Scotland I came from anything that needed to be done ASAP was described as "eventually". It certainly didn't have the same sense of urgency as manana.:D

    Or the Australian soaps:skp:

No idea why they should want to - in comparison to the majority of British television programmes, the standard of what comes out of America and Australia is fairly low.

John, I'm afraid that is incorrect. You forgot the 'innit'. It should read: 'OMG, it's awesome, it so annoys me, they should like totally grow up and all that, innit.'

'Innit' is the UK's contribution to idiot-speak.

like ClaraLou, my pet hates are:

'would of' instead of 'would have'
'should of' instead of 'should have'
    and e-mails like this:

I shuld now be the same as Ursi so yes either one I will be going thru certain things wityh Barb so if there's anything missing I will give you a shout

somehow I'm supposed to figure out what that means.:help:
I have been known to send an e-mail back asking for an explanation. :-)

    Good for you, Shobhna :gnthb:

I suppose I take it one step further, which sometimes upsets Mrs shiney :(. I just delete them without reading them. :hehe:

Someone once said to me, "Did you receive my email?" My response was "Yes, but I deleted it because it was written in a foreign language!" They now write to me in English.

Pete, like you I left school at 15, like you I have got my 30 years contributions in and like you I will be working past 65. What I would like to know from the government is, what is happening to the contributions we have made in the last 10 to 15 years. :old::old::gnthb:

I've been using innit for most of my life, cant help it its how we talk here, innit.
    Dont write it though, much.

I think it gets used a bit different by youngsters these days but its as real as word, as anything jordie or from Yorkshire.
