@silu Yesterday's YouGov poll showed 53%-47% of Scots in favour of staying in the UK.

That silly woman up your way is just making a fool of herself with making her stupid statements about a number of things. The latest being this Child Guardian stupidity!! The High Court has ruled that she can't do it and she is still saying she's going ahead with it

Theresa May don't you just love her ;)

She has been diligently doing her homework for years Over the past six years, May has weathered riots, sat in on a decision to go to war, and chaired an emergency Cobra meeting in the prime minister’s absence following the murder of soldier Lee Rigby.
Tory grandee Ken Clarke’s unguarded remarks about her being a "bloody difficult woman, and she turned them to her own advantage at the last parliamentary hustings, promising that European commission president Jean-Claude Juncker would soon find out how “bloody difficult” she could be.
May fights her corner tigerishly and, unusually for a politician, she does not seem bothered about being liked. Her more radical moments – attacking police corruption, fighting Downing Street for an inquiry into institutional child abuse, overruling civil service advice – have often come from a feeling that common decency has been offended. She loathes any sense of impropriety in public service, of sloppy and self-serving behaviour leading to injustice.

I think that Theresa May faces the most massive task for any prime minister in a generation. At least today, the Conservative Party and the country can be assured that it will be taken on by someone with the inherent qualities to do it. :sofa:

Maybe just maybe if and it's a big if, The Labour Party get their act in gear then we in Scotland will see the slow (unfortunately) demise of The SNP. I have never actually seen any figures but would have a good guess that around 70% of SNP voters were traditional Labour voters who felt taken for granted by their leaders in Westminster and Edinburgh and looked for somewhere else to nail their flag to.
As for Police Scotland breaking the news about rampant online child sex abuse the day after The SNP had been egged by The High Court, obviously our leaders think we are THAT naive to believe the timing was a coincidence?! Insulting or what.

I am delighted that TM has pulled back on Hinkley Point. She apparently has never been a fan of the idea of having the Chinese being involved in building such a critical piece of kit which could cause untold damage to our little island if anything went wrong (whether by design or accident). Not to mention many other doubts. I don't know much about such things but I think we should be looking at alternative options.

Like putting a team together made up of a mix of British and German engineers, possibly with Japanese input for the electronics.

Most stuff you buy in shops that is made in China is broken before you even get it out of the packaging. I really wouldn't fancy living within a couple of hundred miles of a nuclear power plant built by the Chinese. Not only that, but the chosen reactor design has yet to prove successful anywhere else. It is a total gamble with really, really rubbish odds.

As I understood it, the French EDF was building it.
China was just putting up the cash.
            Maybe I got it wrong.

What I do find strange is, they keep banging on about how rich the country is, and how we are the 4th or 5th largest economy.

But when it comes down to it we dont have the technology or the money to build one nuclear power station.

I remember when I was a kid we actually lead the world regarding nuclear power.

I agree Pete. It`s about time we made Britain British again. As for EDF, aren`t they in financial trouble of some sort?
