I'm glad I didn't go there then! I've found the occasional husky event at our usual place before! Can you just imagine the chaos?!

Hope you have a great time visiting us up here @redstar . From the forecast you just might have picked right as our weather has not been good but much better from today for the next week so the forecasters say anyway:fingers crossed:.
Unless you are very into the arts, theatre, shows, alternative comedy etc I'd give Edinburgh a miss as the festival is on and extremely busy. That said The Tattoo is very worthwhile but pretty pricey these days and definitely take waterproof coat plus something warm to wear. I wouldn't bother with Edinburgh Castle, again expensive to go inside and there is very little original left (has had somewhat of a Disney makeover...yuk). You can get up close to the Castle which is quite spectacular from the outside but a big let down inside. Stirling castle on the other hand is wonderful, not nearly so busy and loads to see if you want to "do" a castle. If you are in the west then Culzean Castle (pronounced killain) is definitely worth a visit. It is considered the jewel in the crown of Scottish National Trust properties. It was given to them by The Kennedy family I think and Eisenhower had a whole floor of the castle donated to him. He stayed at the castle a few times I believe. Depending on where you are staying and for how long would influence what you could do and see obviously. There are still fantastic wild highland areas with breath taking scenery (some ruined by flaming wind turbines) but I certainly would give Skye a miss, it's tourist dump most of it, highly overrated and over priced.
If you want any advice on what to do where to go if you aren't already all organised feel free to pm me. I'm no travel expert but I have no bias so will give an honest opinion!
If you are having a wee dram (drink) you might like to make the toast of "Here's tae us, wha's like us? gey few, and they're all dead". That should render your companion/s speechless:)
          Enjoy your trip.
