Things that have made you happy today' 2023

As my niece works for the Fire Services we get fire checks done too .
When I was working I had them out every so often to help me plan escape routes . So very welcomed when I use to care for a lot of preschool children, especially as quite a few were non walkers.

Don't think of yourself as vulnerable Michael...think of yourself as important and cared for.

 

One thing I have lost due to my knee problems is confidence.
When you start to find that there are certain things you can't do anymore the loss of confidence is actually worse than the knee problems.

 

I cannot compare myself to you pete , but know how surgery effected my Mum, brother and sister, saps all confidence.

I myself with my little issues have had to accept certain limitations to what I can do.
My main one is the feeling of insecurity when walking over any degree of uneven ground since my foot fusions 13 years ago and having knee surgery last year hasn't done much to boost my confidence levels much either.

There've been men pebble-dashing the walls of my new kitchen extention and greenhouse. They've been here three days and have got on my nerves ... with LOUD ! drumming 'music' on a boom box (or something) and talking LOUDLY ! and getting cement all over my patio and grit from the pebble-dashing everywhere, and water everywhere. I couldn't get back in the house so I faffed with the plants in my perspex shelters until they'd gone.
They went at 2.30 ... and good riddance.

Why is this in the 'happy' thread - well it's because I am happy that the work has been done AT LAST and happy to get the place back to myself.
And happy not to see those concrete bricks any more.
And happy not to have that drumming noise vibrating through everything all around me.

 

Most of them cant work without a radio blaring out these days, the worst ones are the ones who think they can sing.

 

Having got my OBE (over bloody eighty) this year. I have had a letter to say I wil receive an increase of Winter fuel payment of £350 this year...

Being retired. no schedule, no staff to deal with. no issues to fix. Can just putter about as I wish.
