Nationwide is a building society not a bank and those that have current accounts with them become members (once called shareholders).

I've got two accounts with them, but not a current account, so I'm guessing my money doesn't count.
I find these days most banks/building societies tend to treat investors with disdain.

You either have to have a qualifying current account AND a qualifying savings account.

      Or

A qualifying savings account AND a qualifying mortgage.

Might be moving my money, if they have cash to throw around they could at least throw it around equally.;)
I had accounts with them for 40 yrs plus after they took over the building societies I started out with.

If you have decent savings, then moving your money would be a good idea, as their interest rates are pretty poor.

I've got an ISA and a savings account so I dont qualify, but it seems strange that they have money to throw around, but only to cutomers with a current account, cant find out why.

It used to be the case that Nationwide customers were 'members' of the society. Don't know if this is still the case, but it would explain the share-out.
ETA: Just had a look at their info and it's an incentive scheme to get folk to change 'other' current accounts to NW. That's strange in view of the figures reported of a record number of people flocking to NW last year from the competition!

As for happiness....just been accepted back into the free French healthcare scheme, so someone at the British Embassy has been busy! The garden's looking the best it's ever done.
Dear friends arriving for a short stay soon and to cap it all off, another friend who has had to go back to UK has promised me some Miracle-Gro. It doesn't get any better :)

Sometime last year, during my wanderings, I came across some seeds under Monkey puzzle tree, anyway one must have found its way into a large pot of another plant that spent the winter in the garage.
A few weeks ago I noticed it and tried to move it, but it had rooted.

Today I saw the first signs of green coming up next to the seed, a shoot.

I'll have to leave it a while before I try moving it, but very unexpected.

Perhaps you should question it with Nationwide Pete.

I tried the online thing and the contact button just sends you round in circles, dont they all.
Ended up with some silly chat bot thing that couldn't understand anything, talk about AI, this thing had the intelligence of a sponge, infact that's an insult to sponges everywhere.
