Mrs Shiney needed to renew her passport and it had just less than six months to go on it. Some countries won't allow you in if you have less than six months on it :dunno:. So we thought, to be on the safe side as it was all over the news the other month that renewing can take ages, it should be done in plenty of time.

We went to the post office where they process it all electronically for you and also take a photograph to go in the passport. She had to hand over her old passport for them to send it off to the passport office.

The service was excellent and the progress was updated by email at each stage. Time from going to the PO to receiving the new passport - eight days :hapydancsmil:

Thank you PO and passport office.

The process is very efficient from abroad, too. I was pleasantly surprised to get my renewal back within 11 days. It was reassuring to know that something still works well, after recent dealings with the DWP and Inland Revenue

One hr in the garden = one 3/4 full green bin! :) Most satisfying! :blue thumb:

Not exactly made me happy, but I have been watching a series on Lucan over the last 3 nights (on iplayer). It involves Neil, the son of Sandra Rivett, who was the murdered nanny, trying to track down Lucan. It really moved me. Neil comes across as a lovely man. Utterly obsessed, but so genuine. He believes he has found Lucan in Australia.

Now why the police have not leapt into action to take a DNA sample, thus settling the matter, is interesting. But the programme is not really about Lucan. It's about a boy who never knew his real mum (although he had a happy childhood with adoptive parents) and wants to somehow show he cares about her.

Three utterly compelling hrs. I recommend. :)
