Not officially, @pete . I think I might be able to if I use a VPN, but the Beeb block them if they find them. I'd be quite happy to pay to access British TV but it doesn't seem to be possible.
(I sound as if I know what I'm talking about, but I rely on my tech-savvy children to help me with these things...)

I look through the alphabetical list, but I watch so few programs and I know exactly what I want to watch, so I know what the names of the programs are. It's more difficult if you don't know the program name.
Also I can only see what's on the BBC iplayer. I can't get the ITV one, It's more complicated and I haven't got the patience ...

Yes I assume the licence fee is the problem, I always seem to be asked if I have a licence and have to click on my name.

I think I was asked that the first time I used it, but never since then.

I' always surprised what they show after 8 in the evening, a time when I'm already sleeping. Now and then, I listen to the adds they have and which can be skipped.
I normally use the Search in iPlayer, but this is only for content I know it's there. I'm not good in finding hidden content. OH is much better with that, and we watch it in the late afternoon.

It's the IP address, pete, that is important. You can pay the license fee and be signed in, but once you leave the UK, it's not allowed to play it due to legal reasons. All countries have that.

I've never even thought of using iPlayer :noidea: as there is too much else to get done.

Reverting back to the national anthem:- I seem to remember that cinemas always used to play it at the end of the day's programme and theatres always played it before a performance - except when it was a 'Royal' theatre when they played it at the end. I think that stopped in the 60's or 70's.

I had to dig back and find the start of this particular conversation.
I was pleased to see that the original reference appears not to be Donald T who only listens to the little whispering voices that only he can hear.

Donald is a pleasant person. He has visited the older people in a nursing facility.

I bought a paper cutting guillotine on Amazon, but it was hopeless and frayed the edges of the paper, so I told them about it and they gave me a refund. They don't want me to return the defective one so I'll take it to the tip.
I am now £69.00 richer than I was this morning :dbgrtmb:

But you don't have a paper cutter, I guess for your lovely cards.

I've got one where the blade slides along, but it's a bit flimsy, so I thought I'd buy one with a blade that you pull down. However, it is more flimsy than the sliding one, and it frayed the paper edges, so I've been using the sliding one again this year. I may just stick with that one actually, it's all right for what I want.

It makes me happy that although we've not yet quite reached the shortest day, the evenings are getting lighter, even if I can't appreciate it yet. It clearly makes the local song thrush happy too, since yesterday it resumed singing its morning song from the top of our beech tree.

I was made happy today because I was stopped by a traffic police officer...

                        {yes, I am being serious!}

Taking Mrs C to work this morning, I was pulled over as a random check as part of Surrey Police's crackdown on drink driving. Having lost a friend almost three decades ago due to a drunk driver, I was more than happy to be pulled over and had a very pleasant, brief chat with the officer and was delighted to shake his hand. He stated he had no interest in breathalysing me, despite me offering, as it was quite clear to him that I was 100% sober. Nice to see police out doing things that are pro-active.
