My younger daughter announced she's coming to visit in April or May this evening. :hapfeet:I haven't seen her for four years as she lives in Canada.

Oh, that's wonderful. Perhaps she can teach people to drive on the correct side of the road while she's there! :heehee:

That is really nice news. Our children are always our children no matter their age and having them home is heaven.

              Thanks @CanadianLori. :)

She may have tried it once but she's no longer an instructor - now the person that learner drivers love to hate, a driving examiner.

That is so true and having her home for a while, as you say, will be heaven. :) My son married an American and has lived there for thirteen years but I haven't seen him in all that time as circumstances haven't allowed it. Thankfully technology and Skype brings us together. Both he and my daughter left just three months apart and at the time it broke my heart.

Oh yes @Victoria. :) I'm hoping she'll be here for her birthday just before the middle of May. There's a chance that my other daughter, living on the Isle of Man, may come at the same time to catch up with her little sister. :)

I share your excitement @Sheal at the anticipation of seeing loved ones you haven’t seen for a long time. I’m haven't waited as long as you, by any means, but I have an elderly mother( she’s 103) who lives on the opposite side of the country to me and whom we don’t see over the winter months, We are due to visit this week, first time in months and I can’t wait to see her. Missed her so much.

We've been worrying a lot about who will move into the big house next door when it finally goes up for sale. We envisaged noisy builders being there for months, if not years, when the new owners inevitably re-model the entire property and erect several garden buildings. We were expecting a huge trampoline to be placed right next to our fence and to never want to venture out into the garden ever again.

We've lived next door to Barbara for 30 years and looked out for her when she got really old. In fact she was my wife's teacher in high school so they were close anyway. Today, finally, we find out that her son and his wife intend to buy the other siblings out and move in themselves. He's been living there on and off anyway during the last years of his mum's life and we've occasionally worked on garden jobs together. So no building site, no trampoline, no garden office. Nice neighbours. Peace is restored. Yessss!

It must be a worry for you @Songbird with your elderly mother so far away, but getting together again after a while apart is all the sweeter. Enjoy your time with her. :)

My daughter has booked her flights this evening and will be with us (other half and I) on the 8th of April. :)
