I often wonder about some of our roads, they never put in anything to allow wildlife to cross, just some tunnels under would help.
I remember when they built the channel tunnel rail link cutting Kent basically into two halves, the M20 motorway was already there, which was a death trap for wildlife but they put the rail line right next to it with high chain link fencing, it must have been a disaster for wild life.

But then the farmers and housing developers had already wiped most of it out already I guess.

When they built the M11 embankment just down the road from us they put in wildlife tunnels and they are mainly used by badgers. :blue thumb:

Sociable Weavers construct permanent nests on trees and other tall objects. These nests are the largest built by any bird, and are large enough to house over a hundred pairs of birds, containing several generations at a time.

Read the initial conception of this thread, then ran through some of the comments to figure out what folks think that sentence means so I could chime in accordingly. "Items that we find may be of interest". But, not sure I understand the direction, given the comments.
My show car could be of interest.
Our Nippon collection could be of interest.
Our deep sea salvaged items could be of interest.
Our Art collection could be of interest.
For now that's a good list.

@redstar The items posted are basically of quirky/unusual pictures you may have come across. None of them belong to me (as I am the only one who posts, although anyone can).

@redstar You could put up something in the Hobbies section for all the things you collect/do. I have one for Arts and Craffts.

On topic of rescue dogs, they are incredible!

I joined a local club with my Bordercollie mix, but unfortunately she didn't bark and no amount of encouraging could turn her into a barker (my neighbours were pleased though) so she stayed behind the track and just socialised.

So I volunteered as a "victim" and spent hours in concrete bunkers with pieces of sausage waiting to be rescued. The best dog was a big German Shepherd male and the owner just said that when I hand over the sausage, I should avoid eye contact.

Lying on my back in a narrow concrete box, facing a big, adrenal filled dog was not very relaxing. :yikes:

The dogs are truly amazing and save lives when catastrophe hits. It's humbling to see them systematically going through the scene, blocking out any distractions, and just focusing on finding their target.
