This and That ... perhaps of interest ...

Do you know Vicky we actually had a Bee that looked exactly like that here the other week.

We were sat out having a coffee and it was beautifully sunny and mild . We watched with great interest as this Bee went about gathering pollen from the Crocuses ....it was obviously trying to collect as much as it could. It kept flying..well trying to as it's load seemed to be a heavy one, over and landing on R's knee and then busily wiped all the pollen off onto his jeans ..then flew back to the Crocus Patch and repeated the whole performance several more times...greedy little devil was nabbing all the pollen quickly before any other Bees showed up!!

I tried several times to get a pic but they didn't come out great..

Fab pic...... I think is helps to have a proper camera with a good zoom lens ......and know how to use it!!

I got this off my Facebook Garden News feed but it doesn't say where it is. I have seen such on Faial Island in The Azores although they were not quite in bloom when we were there in April/May.

 

Fabulous...you've reminded me that I must dead head our Hydrangeas.

 

Personally I prefer the Dorothy Parker version of the above.
