Appropriate for today ...

 

Were running out of places to plant trees around here.
That is you still want to farm the land and build millions of houses.

Half the conservationist seem to want to bring in grazing animals in wild places to stop trees growing.

 

About 40 years ago, on the moors not far from me, the conservationists did a little experiment. They fenced off a few large squares of moorland to prevent the sheep getting in, then did nothing for ten years to see what happened. The squares filled up with trees of multiple species.

Then at the end of the ten year experiment, they took the fences down, and still did nothing. Within a few years it was mostly just the same as the surrounding moorland again, except for a few of the trees that had managed to get big enough to survive before the sheep got to them.

 

Most conservationists seem to be conserving an unnatural landscape, one which man and his animals created hundreds of years ago.

I can't either. I think it is because I 'copy and paste' rather than save and upload.

 

Oh Ok, perhaps there's a time limitation on them being visible.
