Eurghhh! Still 10 days of January to get through before I can even start to pretend it's nearly Spring.

    Today:
Have checked all the wooly jumpers on ebay and added a few to my watch list.

Have got most of the snow off my greenhouse roof.

Spent half an hour in the pottery shed but the clay won't dry and it makes my hands cold. *whimper*

Have not tidied the spare bedroom.

Have avoided doing that important bit of prep for work.

Think I'll pop into town now.

It is so called "Blue Monday" today, meant to be the worse day of the year.

You could try saving your money and getting your current car a lovely pair of socks...

Usual stuff really.. I do an early dog walk every morning around 7.30 with my friend these dark mornings & that is a pretty good tonic to start the day, whatever the weather we always have a gigle about something.. :heehee: So important..

Then when chores done I have been doing some drawing & a have nearly finished a lino print as well..
A second walk & then I really appreciate that fire then in the evenings.. :grphg:

I think they are over-rated .... seems like just a few miles on a road without snow and they will be in shreds.

Whereas ... Winter Tyres are, IME, totally amazing. We do without a 4x4 now that we have proper Winter tyres. They won't get you through a snow drift, or across a ploughed field, so if you need that then a 4x4 will still be needed - but given that the Val hasn't got one then its probably normal road use, and a couple of inches of loose snow or packed snow / ice etc. and for those conditions I've found snow tyres are like Night & Day compared to "summer tyres". Going up an alpine road last Winter I was making better progress than a Disco in snow-mode, and was comfortable driving, and stopping, faster than all the day-trippers with chains on.

Pondered what my flight to Texas might have been like had I been able to fly today...thanks Heathrow. Mucked horse's stable out about 5 times as didn't think he'd enjoy being out in a blizzard and also pondered if he'd mind having a cork inserted in a part of his anatomy as in between shovelling what he was producing I was shovelling white stuff so I could actually get to the stable. Such a glamorous life I lead!

Yes, winter tyres are the bees knees and mine get me through drifts. Well worth it just for the driving time you save.

I have three elderly dogs and a VERY elderly cat, it occured to me that if I needed to get to the vets I would be stuck!!!!!!
