Evening, strongy, wondered where you were. [IMG]

Pete is 100% correct now ... it is a Psidium ... a strawberry guava.

    So ...

    1. Psidium, strawberry guava
    2. Brachychiton, the Flame Tree
    3. Tillandsia ... don't know which one

My friend just said, take whatever you want ... but I have no room for anything and he "forced" these plants upon me ... seriously bad news! :(

I'll grow the strawberry guava in a pot and the Tillandsia with my other bromelaids/ephyphites (sorry, haven't looked up the spellings) under the Jacaranda.

The Flame Tree seems to have about a dozen stems ... I'll keep one for Bonsai purposes but ...

    1) Is Kandy correct there is some critter living in it?
    2) What do I do with so many ???? anyone want one ????

Just, in the last couple of days, ordered some brachychiton acerifolium seed.
Its a plant I grew a few years back and decieded to give it another go.
I think Kandy is correct, some thing has had a go at the leaves, but I dont think its vine weevil, more likely something like thrips or aphids that damage the new leaves as they form.
I should have recognised the guava, as I also grew some, but it must have been 20 yrs or so ago.
I did get fruit but dont think I was very impressed at the time, a mealy type of berry if I remember right.
Perhaps its better with more sun and heat.

pete, I know you ordered some seed, but I'll pop a root in the mail to you in the new year because I haven't a clue what to do with them ... (I'll chop the top off if that's okay) and you can't say NO.

We've been unusally warm here through the Autumn so thrips are probably the culprits ... thank goodness for this rain (flooding now) to clear things up. [IMG]

Would anyone else like to try the Flame Tree, which can tolerate the UK ????

Yes, it's a blue-ish wall ... a massive wall art of a sea scene on my dining patio done by my good self. :D

Lol surely you have always got room for a plant or two even if they are 'forced' on you?

After all aren't you're always bringing some plants back when you go shopping for other things?...one time I'm sure you said even a trip to the post office you still managed to bring a plant back...if I'm wrong you can smack my hand of course! :D

I found the label for the Tillandsia and was barely able to make out the name ... it's a T ionantha ...

    http://www.plantoftheweek.org/week195.shtml

Helen, yes, I can usually squeeze a plant or two in and the Tillandsia already has a home waiting for it. However, I shall have difficulty finding a place for the Strawberry Guava, a small tree 2-6m tall) and heaven only knows what I'll do with the 12 Flame Trees ... well, pete WILL help me out here. :D :D

No, you're right, I easily wander from the PO to the garden centre ... my car Izabel ASSUMES that's the next place to go to.

That made me laugh, Sis! Why don't you explain that the nearest garden center is about the same distance from the PO as your Casa is - but in the other direction? How many KM's is it?

It did sound as though it was only perhaps a block out of your way on the trip back to the house.

David, I have your details, don't I ... Torfaen ???? If wrong, PM me. [IMG] They'll go out after the new year.

Sis ... it's ONLY another 6kms the OTHER side ... but then we wander sometimes to Giga and further yonder ... you know me. [IMG]

Life is wonderful ... enjoy everyone! xx
