Hiya LOL, typical me, I post a trivial reply and then can't find it to follow up. :(

That is a lovely blue wall, sorry for me being frivolous. But if I don't know the plants what else is there to say?

Why people associate blue with the med defeats me, it's all a goldy/orange colour around my bit, but then I don't find Charlie Chaplin funny either.

It's not the sea is it? Doh!!

    Hi again Nik. [IMG]

Now I don't know if you're jesting ... I know it's faded and I plan to re-do it in the Spring (we're in rain season at the moment) but yes, it's the sea. As I can't see the sea from my patio, only orchards, I thought it was a novel idea to have one on the wall ... hence the stone arch around it and bench in front of it. [IMG]

Blue has always been associated with the Med ... blue skies in our case as our water is more turquoise. Goldy/orange I associate with the Tropics, the Caribbean ... a bit like my latest painting in LoL's Leisure. [IMG]

My BoPs (S reginae)are still blooming and thriving but the first set of "feathers" die off before the second set ... any ideas as to why? Oh, and my S nicolai has new leaves and two new shoots. [IMG]

Hiya Lol, I should have said "Why people in the UK associate blue paint with the med defeats me."
    However back to the BOPS.
I have two, one that flowers alternate years, but is always double headed, and another that flowers every year and is single headed. The double headed one is considerably taller and fatter than the single one. S. Nicolai towers above both of them, but hasn't flowered yet. I live in hopes.

Is this the sort of thing you mean Nik, mine have only done it once, and that was in 1984 when this old pic was taken.
If your getting it every other year your doing well I reckon.

While looking for that i came across this from the same year, thought it might be worth a showing.

I've only had the one "double", pete/nik. I was meaning the "feathers" ... there's blue/orange then blue/orange ... at the moment I'm only get one "set" at a time, maybe I'll photograph my deformed plant tomorrow.

Pete, your garden looked wonderful then ... I think a lot of folk would be jealous to have that now. [IMG] You do love your plants though and it really shows.

Oh, I remember that beauty, pete... that's better than any of mine have every done, you lucky ... so-and-so ...

I'm shocked my S nicolai has two new shoots ... probably no chance of birds yet. Typical of here, it's tattered to pieces ... natural, of course. :D

Pete, that double header is exactly what I mean. I don't do anything to mine that the other doesn't get, I think it is just in it's genes.

Your "last June" photo is just drop dead gorgeous, what a superb flower.

I will look out this years double headed flower photos, but we are off to the hacienda tomorrow, for a week, and I'm supposed to be packing the suitcases. Ducks from incoming.

Lol, I will take a picture of our "sea view" and post it.
