This is our sea view, according to the estate agents.

    This what we actually see.

And I couldn't help posting this. The red squirrels in Guardamar del Segura municiple gardens like to drink from the ponds.

And if, like me, you've ever ruttled about in the dried husk of a BOP flower looking for seeds, if they didn't look like this, forget it. :(

Double headed BOP flowers to follow.

I can see the tree and the sea in the distance Nik, you just didn't have your camera on maximum zoom, did you? [IMG]

Now, c'mon, Nik, fair dinkum ... surely they didn't build that village after you bought ?????

Nice Norfolk Island Pine. [IMG] Mine's small and I'm thinking of giving it away as it lives on the deck.

    Lovely squirrel.

Actually, I've never looked for seeds in BoPs ... but I couldn't be bothered with the time span for growing/blooming. I've got about seven birds up and coming now in various stages.

Oh, yes, pete, I see the tree in the distance now also ... the estate agents obviously took the photo from a different balcony closer to the tree and sea ... marketing, me'thinks they call it ... cough, cough, cough!

Pete, what can I say. It was so windy up on the roof that day that anything more than 10x optical zoom just couldn't cope. (I wish) And it's a rubbish tripod.
I only got the photo that I did because 'Er Indoors was standing immediately to my right, with her Bat Cape on and her arms out to shelter me from the wind.
I always thought that BOPs needed an exotic humming bird to fertilise them. How do you manage?

    Hi Nik!

I have decided the first picture was taken from the balcony nearest the NIP because you can see the TV aerial of the building sticking out from the right.

I don't know anything about exotic humming birds ... but I buzz around mine neglecting them, I'm afraid!

Pete, do you have exotic humming birds your way? [IMG]

Nik that pic of theirs was very deceiving, either zoomed in or from a nearer balcony as Pete and Lol say but that's what Estate Agents are like in my experience.

Yes I get seed on my BOPs, I just move the sticky pollen from the centre of the blue bit of the flower to the tip of the blue bit.
    If that makes sense.

I did read some years ago that they are the only flower pollenated by birds feet, sun birds.
True or not, I dont know, but the centre of the blue bit opens when you put slight pessure on it, exposing the pollen.

Now, pete, you're talking about S nicolai not S reginae ....

I can only talk for the latter ... not the former and they are just developing. :D
