" I tried using the attachment tool here but they came out as thumbnails" yes, but you click on them and see the large image - or am I missing something? (Not saying its ideal, just curious if folk know that or not?)
If you double click the thumbnail before you post it in your post to get it to full size, then use the URL from the full size photo pasted into the image box from GC tool bar above it will display at full size in your post....
I want to post big pics if that's what everybody wants - but here's my problems. Thank you Kirsten, yes I do click on the thunbnails and they expand, but don't come up full size. Thank you for the link to Tiny Pics. I get pics in there and resize them but I can't see a way to get from there to my album or anywhere else useful. Marley Farley, thank you for your instructions which look quite clear but I cannot find the image box or toolbar. Where should I be looking ? All I can see is manage attachments and I get thumnails. I really hope I can sort this out.
"Thank you Kirsten, yes I do click on the thunbnails and they expand, but don't come up full size" Glad that part works! Maximum size of attachments is 800px wide, and 600px wide (if you upload bigger it will be resized to that), so anything larger needs to be a link to an image stored somewhere else. The "Image Box" Marley Farley refers to is this icon , but if you upload the image as an attachment it will be max 800 px x 600 px however you link to it I'm afraid.
Yes I know it's that icon Kristen, but where is it ? I can't see it anywhere. Maybe I'm being truly dense. Please don't say on the toolbar because I can't see that either. Please help.
Yes Paladin, I do Go Advanced, and that's how I see the manage attachments box and post my thumbnails. But where is the toolbar and the image logo. I'm just lost with it. In which corner should I look ? This is what I see. What am I missing here ? http://www.gardenerscorner.co.uk/forum/newreply.php?do=postreply&t=22090
"But where is the toolbar and the image logo" I reckon you are seeing something different, for some reason (or I've misunderstood!). Attached are screen shots of the normal Reply box I see (at the bottom of this thread) View attachment 931 and the Go Advanced version (which also has an Attachment Icon - which I have used to place the thumbnails within the message, rather than at the bottom - you still need to click them to see a bigger image though!) View attachment 932
I also find that when I click a thumbnail on here it comes up bigger but not anywhere as big as I like to see it. That is why I use Photobucket, which is very easy to use. When I go to 'Advanced' to type my reply I sometimes want to scroll down to see a picture that has been posted (as a reference for what I am typing) but those that have been posted as thumbnails don't appear. Whereas, those that have been posted as full size through a server like Photobucket do appear. Alice, I don't know anything about the technical stuff but if you continue to have problems why don't you try one of the servers like Photobucket? I'm sure that a mod or administrator can help you with that. There is a thread somewhere on here that explains it quite well. It has to be explained well because that is how I managed to be able to do it :hehe:. Good luck :thmb:
"but not anywhere as big as I like to see it" It will only be as big as it was when uploaded Albeit that it will be rezied down to 800 x 600, if the original was larger. "I sometimes want to scroll down to see a picture that has been posted (as a reference for what I am typing) but those that have been posted as thumbnails don't appear" Wasn't aware of that, good point.
Thank you Kristen. Now I see where the problem is. I don't have that toolbar either in quick reply or go advanced. Is there anywhere I can switch it on ?
Not that I am aware of (on this site / User CP admin). Sounds like it might be some setting in your browser. What browser & version are you using?
I'm running XP and using Internet Explorer 7 Kirsten. On another Forum I visit I have the tool bar in the message box no problem.
Alice, sounds like you'd be better off using www.photobucket.com or www.flickr.com. Both are free to join; you upload your pix onto them, copy the IMG address of the desired pic and paste it directly into your response box here. Much easier.
