    Sheal,
I don't think the ornamental version (typically, sylvestris) would give the same problem or the RHS wouldn't have given it an Award of Merit.

You can sell the plants, its just the cured product that is subject to tax.

Went out and bought some 5" pots and potted up the 22 plants. There was only two that had very little root formation the rest were getting pot bound so I think they should gallop away now they have more root room. Don't know what I am going to do with them all?!!

Planted most of mine out into an open coldframe today.

what I mistook for lack of roots was the fact i'd missed the really fine roots that had gone to the bottom of the pots. They break very easily so next time i'm going to use pete pots and just thin them to one per pot rather than potting on.

I guess this thread is a learning curve.:psnp:

I have potted 4 up in large 10 inch pots they are putting on a spurt. Have given 6 away to a friend and another 5 or 6 are going to another friend. That still leaves me with some more that need potting on into larger pots in a week or two's time. Unless I can give some more away.

I have a mini shredder that I used to use for letters and things before I got my main shredder and I am wondering if I could use that to shred the leaves? I think actually if you dry it enough it will just crunch up anyway. Although having said that you would not want it to be too dry to smoke..........not being a smoker any more I still remember putting a dockleaf in my baccy tin to keep my tobacco from drying out.

Dockleaf is a plant that you usually find growing next to nettles and if you get stung by the nettles you rub the spot with a dockleaf and it takes the sting away. Don't know why we used dockleaf to keep our tobacco moist because I suspect any moist leaf would do or indeed a piece of potato.

I think this is my 2000th post. Yippee!
