I am also grateful that I managed to get my paint to dry with no cat/dog hairs stuck to it! :heehee:

Today I am grateful for finally finding a pair of purple plimsolls (i.e. without the plastic toe covering)....it has been a very long search!

I wear a lot of purple and now have matching footwear (to my purple trousers). [IMG]

Today I am grateful for finding a solution to my legs becoming easily stiff, with aches and pains after some slight exertion. I purchased an electric massager (has a reflexology attachment and also an infra red one for pain). It freed up the stiffness instantly and I feel like Lazarus! [IMG]

Today I am grateful for honest people. I left my debit card in the reader at Aldi, returned 1 hour later in a fluster, there was my card safe and sound awaiting my return.
              Thanks to the lovely assistant.

You don't ask, you don't get!

We have had our telephones and internet with BT for a very long time (telephone lines since before they had any competition and internet since they started as an ISP). Our service has been good, with the occasional hiccup.

A month ago I phoned them to renew my 'Anytime' contract (free standard, local, 0845 and 0870 calls) on one of our lines. The price had gone up from the previous year by approx. £2 per month. so I said it was too much and can I have it at the old price. I was shocked to find that they agreed immediately. :blue thumb:

Yesterday I phoned to renew the 'Line Rental Saver' on the other line. All that means is that if you pay one year in advance you get a 17% discount - a 'no brainer' for us. There is one stipulation with having LRS and that says that we must have paperless billing or pay £1.59 extra per month. As there's a technical problem with us accessing our accounts on line (at their end and not our fault - a problem they've not been able to solve in eight years!) they agreed that there would be no charge for us.

This worked fine until last year when they told us we would have to pay the charge as they had changed their software and it didn't allow an override on the account. I solved that by suggesting that they refund the charge, in advance, and they agreed but said that I would have to call them each year to explain why.

So I phoned the accounts yesterday and they said they can see the notes on screen but they can't authorise it without some other department giving permission. That department phoned me today (at the time I told them to), they agreed the refund  with no trouble but also stated that I would have to call them each year! I said that they seem to enjoy wasting my time with these calls and he said he would add a £10 additional sum to the refund. :dbgrtmb:

I also phoned them to renew my annual internet service and I said that as I don't give them any trouble at all and my access speed is so slow (too far from the exchange on an old system), can I have a discount. They knocked £3 per month off and increased my quota from 10MB to unlimited.

                        Good old BT :yay: :hapydancsmil:

I recently received the renewal notice for our insurances for our house, contents and both cars and it was marginally cheaper than last year :). That didn't stop me asking for a reduction in premiums and they reduced them by £30.

Just ask, they can only say no.

And that shocks them into action .... because it seems to be rare behaviour in our "me-me-me" society.
I remember feeling shocked when (as a rare treat) I used a well know burger driver through and the young person behind the glass made a point of saying how polite I was! I only said please and thank you (in the right places) :heehee: I found that quite remarkable - but he explained that people, in the main, simply demand what they want and basic manners are a rarity.
