I'm glad I know what a zucchini is... just saw this in today's paper. :snorky:

"BERLIN — A worried resident in Germany alerted police to what he thought was a World War II bomb in his garden.

Officers instead found … a particularly large zucchini.

Police were summoned to the scene in Bretten, near the southwestern city of Karlsruhe, on Thursday morning by a worried 81-year-old man.

They said in a statement Friday that officers determined “the object, which really did look very like a bomb” was actually a 40-centimetre zucchini.

The offending vegetable, which was very dark in colour, weighed about five kilograms. Police believe someone threw it over a hedge into the garden."

and now I'm wondering why anyone would toss it ...

Got home yesterday from a delightful two week birdwatching holiday over in Norfolk and stayed at Sandringham Caravan Club site.We managed 106 birds for our holiday tick list.It was a bit cold at times and the wind did blow an awful lot but at l least we wrapped up warm and were cosy in our caravan:Wino::biggrin:. We were only supposed to have a week away but Mr Kandy decided on two weeks the night before we departed from home.Good job I had packed enough clothes to last me that long:biggrin:

Started on the snail mail after lunch and have received a letter from the hospital informing me that this Wednesday I need to go and have my pre med check ups done and then on what would have been my mums birthday at the end of the month have to go into hospital again for a few hours to have my other foot sorted:fingers crossed:

I know they said the list was a bit shorter this time round but we were thinking of it being done after Christmas, not before. So it looks like Mr Kandy will be cooking the Turkey after all this year as I will be lying on the settee with my feet up so to speak:Wino::biggrin: Can’t really refuse the date or else they might give me one in the summer months:sad:

I better make a start on writing those Christmas cards me thinks:biggrin:

Today I am thankful for @Fat Controller . A complete and utter :star:. A few weeks back 1 of my lovely cats managed to knock a whole cup of hot coffee complete with slug of whisky in it onto my just over a year old laptop.
Despite flying to pull out the battery and standing on it's side to drain! all was not well. After a few days of drying out I tried switching it on......yes it works me thinks, then tried typing on it, hmm when you pressed t you got t AND 5 not so good, then the screen started to do all sorts, not looking good at all, indeed critical! The bin was beckoning for my computer but no, Fat Controller offers to try and fix my dead computer. A couple of weeks later and here am I typing this post on my laptop:yes:all thanks to Fat Controllers expert knowledge but more importantly his extremely kind gesture to help someone he has never actually met..
I have been a member of Gardeners Corner for 7 (lucky) years and in those 7 years bar a very very few moments, all this time has been fun, informative, supportive in sad times (had to pts an old cat), beneficial, having made great plant swaps with other GC members and my life would be that bit poorer without having found this website.Yes I am a fairly knowledgeable and passionate gardener, be that as it may, Gardeners Corner has afforded me to "meet" some really very decent human beings. Thanks to those who run Gardeners Corner which, for whatever reason, attracts great folk. Oh hell's teeth having said all of this I had better make another donation:snorky:

Thank you @Zigs :snorky:. FC didn't need to put a glacier as my screen saver as it already features a snowy scene which I hasten to add is not from around here. It looks like Switzerland or Bavaria, all very pretty and not featuring your requisite drunken Scot upended in a snow drift:rolleyespink:

You are quite right to query about the Whisky @ARMANDII, our "beloved" Scottish Government have eventually got minimum alcohol pricing passed through the European courts and so gone will be the days of buying a cheepo bottle of the amber fluid. Do they really think their measures are going to make a blind bit of difference? , I hey me doubts on that 1. We have just bought a new wee van and I can see me doing the odd trip over the Border to fill it with certain brands of booze which will be considerably cheaper than up here. Sort of a take on "The Booze Cruise", just as long as nobody manages to write tit on my forehead:heehee: (presuming you have seen the drama and will know to what I am referring)

Oh they are really doing their best to make Scotland a laughing stock @ARMANDII. In my local village they have backed a brand new Whisky distillery which opened about 4 months ago and along the road I have it on good authority they have put £7,000,000 into the development of a brand new , not even opened yet Gin distillery on what was green belt agricultural land.:noidea:Yet they want us to become tea total. You honestly couldn't make it up.
