The little yellow flowers on mine look pretty but little red tomatoes would look much better

Chutney may be on the cards here too if the weather doesn`t improve.

We lost the first batch of seedlings to some dreaded lurgy but luckily always plant very early.
They are all fruiting nicely although so far only the tumbling toms are red enough to pick, we`re still waiting on the beefsteak, san maranzo II, red pear and moneymaker.

I grew some sweet million this year. I've never grown tomatoes (or anything else for that matter!) before.
We have had quite a few tomatoes that have ripened, and been eaten. There are plenty more out there waiting to ripen.
The only problem is that the plants have gone on the rampage! I've been pinching out the side shoots, but these plants are only supposed to grow 2' tall. Some of them are over 6'! Should I have pinched out the top? That wasn't mentioned on the packet...

    Two toms, one stalk,
Does that make them twins or just good friends?

Mine are like that too. I've hacked off a few branches to let the sun get at the toms and pinched out the tops now cause they'd be 8ft before I knew it

I can just picture you with a big hatchet battling against 8 foot tomatoes.!

Well my tomatoes have miraculously started to ripen. Had a few off them which are very tasty.
Sun Baby are still going strong. Other two varieties with now some orangey ones, finally!

    Biker.
At last some toms for you down South.
Here in Yorkshire I have been harvesting for a least a couple weeks.
Strange weather we have across the country this year.

I have tried a tomatoe plant in a hanging basket for the first time.
    A complete flop.
I don't think I'll bother with veg again.
The slugs ate the lettuce in the tub , the onions are rubbish and the tomatoes are few and far between.
    I think I'll stick to flowers. :o :D
