Although I do germinate my large seeds, like Broad and Runner Beans, on damp kitchen paper, and then pop into 2" pots once they sprout. Got some Broad Beans going at the moment ... to fill in the gaps of my Autumn sown ones (which weren't Aquadulce and clearly haven;t survived the hard winter very well)

Update on growth from the 9th March as pictured below.
    Looking good I would say.

Time to pot on the paper grow tomatoes.
As you see from the pictures the paper sheet has completely rotted away and was not a problem.
Lesson learnt from this is next year to give more space around the seeds which will allow easier potting on and less root disturbance.

I reckon that needs potting on Robert ... I'll wager you that if you knock that out the roots will be getting pretty busy round the edge of the root ball.

I'm not saying how much I would wager, mind you ... :)

Question, are you growing any others, other than the ones you are growing from your own seed?

Reason being once I tried saving my own seed, and the two I planted were marvellous plants, only problem little runts of tomatoes off them.

It would be a pity to waste a full frowing season, only to find that they produced little or no fruit!

    best of luck!

    Got it covered guys.
I have plenty backups growing from fresh seeds.
But it is a good point and I shall report on that issue as and when.
