Anyone grown Ruthje before? Just sorting what I'll be growing this year. I'm growing less this year inside at least and want to grow something new along with the ones I have been happy with in the past. Also got rote murmel which is a wild currant tomato, would this be ok in a large pot?

Well I've sown them all today. Even though I was intending on waiting a couple of weeks to sow the outdoor ones. I'll just repot them and keep them in the greenhouse for a couple of extra weeks

For Inside greenhouse: sungold F1, sevryuga (a pink oxheart) purple Cherokee, banan krasnyi, Cherokee tiger purple striped(dwarf), ruthje,

For Outside: rote murmel, nagina F1, fantasio F1

Also sowed some tomatillos for outside.

Decided to skip a few of the ones I liked a lot last time. Next year for them, at least the seeds last.

My sown varieties so far. Screenshot_20240310-054818.png Flonda, Brazilian Beauty and Boxer Rebellion haven't germinated and are thus consigned to the duds tray. I have 16 more varieties on my sow list but a few will be edged out during to late seed purchases.

@eatenbyweasels How are you going to manage all of those plus the new seeds you are going to buy later? I've grown 'Black Russian' on the balcony & it grew more than any of the others I had at the time! I grew 'Red Robin' in my hanging baskets a few years ago & they did quite well! Never grown 'Sungold'. Apart from 'Bl Butcher' I've never heard of the others!

A few years ago my son gave me a couple of plants of 'Green Zebra' which were quite tasty!

In a week or two I shall start to sow some seeds.I just hope the spring is not as cold as last year. I usually sow them on the first day of spring.

By the time the next (and final) batch are potted up and demanding windowsill space, at least half of the present batch will have gone to friends and family. Final batch will be strictly one seed per variety and I'm assuming, on average, two or three won't germinate so it's manageable. Sort of. :th scifD36:

Sowed all my non-pepper nightshades. Nearly tossed some self saved seeds in the bin... note to self: dont store seeds in unmarked kitchen towel
One source said Physalis take as long as peppers: oops. Theyll have to get the sunniest spot if so. Ah well! My peppers are a month old at a terrific 3cm tall! Go, go, go!
Good luck with all your endevours, everyone.

PS: "Fat Frog", sown at christmas is flowering. Joy!

A colleague was in Rome at the weekend and has given me some seeds they bought.
Tomato "Campbell 33" and a lettuce leafed basil.
Anybody know anything about either of these.

My colleague whose surname is Campbell; thinks they were originally bred for Campbell's soup.

That's the lines I was thinking along, I think some of the big food companies do have their own varieties of veg, cant think of an example right now.
