I forgot to include in my very short list that I am trying Striped German, an American variety (which you can probably guess from the name) A big orangey yellow, knobbly thing which apparently has a great taste. We shall see....

Exactly the same three varieties as I'm growing Lolimac!
Sowed the Alicante and Beefmaster last Sunday, they've just emerged today. :)

What an amazing selection folks :dbgrtmb:

Looks like Gardeners Delight is the most popular :)

                I have
                Gardeners Delight 3
                Money Maker 3
Waiting for some Aisla Craig 3

Too cold up here to start, as it will be too cold to plant up when the seedlings have grown

Intention when I have ALL the seeds is to start late March

Anyone up in Fife , TaySide, grown tomatoes outdoors with success and what variety ?
If so then I can plant more other than nine in the cold greenhouse

Yeah, sorry about that, I'm behind with all my promises. Will try to get that in the post at the weekend. I'll send you some Shirley too.

Ditch the Money Maker Jack, unless you know you like it. Universally sold, I've never met anyone in the forums that though its taste was worthwhile (but here's an opportunity for anyone to speak up for it ???)

Kirsten, no intent on the post willing to wait, I have a couple of months yet
Money Maker is just some seed I bought from FOCUS when it was open, I prefer what I call real tomatoes ie Not miniture bite size just real 2" round tomatoes

Grow a couple of the Shirley I will send you. I reckon you will prefer those :)

The seed will keep for years, so if you have a few left over keep them for next year.

Jack, Moneymaker is reliable and as it's name suggests is very prolific, however it's bland tasting. Grow Shirley instead  or one of each side by side as a comparison, it's always useful to have a bit of variety anyway.

Germination of the few varieties I've started with has been generally good, but the Super Marmande was less so and the potted on seedlings don't look too happy. Probably just coincidence but the sturdiest little plantlets are the varieties from saved seed from previous harvests (Tigerella and Pomadoro).

First time for me growing them in this house, in a SW facing unheated sunroom, so fingers crossed.

Got some Money Makers on the go as I was given several packets for free. Growing Pomadors too.

Got flowers but don't know if they'll come to anything.
