Oooooh - you got more than me, and yours is bigger than mine too!

Who knows FC. Mine are at the mercy of slugs and snails at night whilst I :snooze: . I have decided not to buy any tomato coloured paint though. That would be cheating.

 - Glad to hear it! I am going to have to get out in the polytunnel tonight and give my 'team' a good old pep talk though, to keep me in with a chance!

Hehehe ... I don't think the Tomatoes will find F.C.'s "good old pep talk" to be even remotely like a "team building jolly" ... I'm imagining it to be more along the line of: "See that compost heap over there? If you lot don't pull your socks up ..."

You know me so well already!

I've tucked them all up for the night, and after our little session they are again fine upstanding citizens (although that may be more to do with me tying them up a bit more and lopping off the side shoots i didn't get the other day) - then I spent the rest of my evening watering everything outside (this hosepipe ban malarky is getting on my wick now)

Jenny, if it really does get that low you could cover them with horticultural fleece or if you don't have any; net curtains or similar will do.

Are you feeding them now Jenny? Once they start flowering you need to be using a specific tomato fertilizer like Tomorite (or the much cheaper Wilko's own brand). This has a high potash element that tomatoes need to improve flowering and fruit ripening :dbgrtmb:

It's better to give 2 half doses a week rather than all in one go once a week. Or even better a little in every watering provided you work out the dilution rate. Follow the instructions on the bottle for dilution rates :)

yep. They are getting weak Tomorite waterings every other day. I will tuck them up in fleece if it really DOES get that low. It's feeling cooler now already. All this yoyo weather is a bit of a pain,,,

I've taken the plunge with mine, and planted them out this evening. I've had them out for the past few nights to harden them off, and they seemed fine. I'm away for the weekend and don't really have any contingencies in place to cover my absence. The forecast looks ok, so fingers crossed for a mild weekend (Bristol)

                        Cheers...Freddy
