Cheers John...going to flush the system again today, then I'm just going to fill the reservoir with water and feed the pots directly.

I contacted Greenhouse Sensation, the supplier of the Quadgrows, and see what they think.

I have used quadgrows for years and did a trial (posted on here) after suffering like you did and found that clean water in the quadgrows and feeding in the pots is the way to go then you can control everything without any build up problems, I only use organic fertilisers I add fish blood and bone to the potting mix for final potting along with calcified seaweed to prevent any blossom end rot and use liquid feeds mostly based around seaweed throughout the season and I usually get tomatoes from may until October and sometimes even later.

With the benefit of hindsight I wish I had kept my octogrow system and fed the pots same as @sandymac rather than adding chemicals to the reservoir. I really liked the holiday watering feature.

Cheers @sandymac and @JWK will hopefully see a difference doing it this way and hopefully some better plant health.

Two things: the mechanical watering/ feeding ??? You've really put me off getting anything like it quite frankly! I mean the problem seems to be coming from the water/fertiliser salts. Calcium from the water? Secondly : possibly varieties? Are some more susceptible than others?
I've taken the pictures into the greenhouse and shown them to plants, with the threat that i'll be buying one of these fancy watering/feeding system!

Picked the first ripe Sungold today, it was pretty small but tasty.

I've only got a couple on the outside ones, but they are flowering well on first trusses.

All my greenhouse border tomatoes have now set at least one fruit, about half the pot grown ones in the converted shed have.

The greenhouse ones are looking a bit less vigorous than the pot grown ones though, they are still in close proximity to the garlic I still have in there so maybe there is a bit of competition. Next year I will grow soft necks in there which normally mature a couple of weeks quicker than the hard necks I grew this year

Now got masses of Tom's planted outside and in the greenhouse and a small plastic tomato house! Lots of flower trusses but no set fruit. I'd lost a lot of original plants through poor watering. Poor in that the gardener thought I was watering them!!! So of course I sent for more seed and replanted! So they are now splendid little plants! Problem? Nowhere to plant them! Suddenly giving Tom's away for others to water etc! It will be interesting to compare fruiting/timing/etc with two lots.
Problem with introducing wife to gardening. Great having 'less' to do, but now can't just sit and contemplate the floriferous garden like you're encouraged to do, she's continually asking/suggesting/ telling me to do stuff! ...... Got to go!!!
