I think it varies between varieties/fruit types. My Cherry Roma converts flowers into small, swelling fruits within a week. Meanwhile, out in t'greenhouse, Der Kleine Doctor (large cherry) hangs on to its blooms for what seems like forever.

      Yes makes sense.
So possibly you could expect that big beef tomatoes will take longer to form fruit from the bloom?

I don't grow the big ones, but based on what I've seen, I'd go so far as to say that small, simple fruits set faster.

Greenhouse, plants up to about 4ft now, all healthy. A couple of the ones in containers in the shed got their tops frazzled in the heat, hoping they recover. All plants are bearing fruit now, of various sizes. Side shoots appearing as if from nowhere all the time. IMG_20230617_122608607_HDR.jpg

A few of mine, all plants now have fruits and are growing well, even if a little frazzled in the heat of the greenhouse.

Those look great, Hanglow. Even if one of them looks a tad hash-ish.;)

I've only got 10 tomato plants this year, they are sharing the greenhouse with my bananas at the moment (they will be shifted out soon):

90% of mine now planted out and enjoying the rain (most of my butt's full!) So I'm hoping the heat builds up soon! Got some new potash rich fertiliser to try this year!

Hi guys, here is my beef tomato indeterminate. Can't remember which variety exactly, lost the label Plant has two main shoots( or three??) as I missed the suckers. I have around 40-50 buds/flowers on it. 7 trusses. Shall I pinch off the tops to stop plant growing at this stage and let the plant focus on the fruit development? I live in the UK

Personally I'd take the top out of the sideshoots one leaf past the truss, they shouldn't be there but as they are just go with it, I'd leave the main leader to carry on for another couple of trusses.

Ok will do thanks. Need to pay attention more to suckers next year. I sometimes struggle to identify which one is the actual sucker
