Wow what a collection and thank you, you are very kind! I like beef tomatoes mostly, but next year I was thinking to try a bit of each variety, some cherries, more beef and some regular tomatoes. I am not fussy at this stage, I will be trying many different varieties I guess!:)

PM me your address and I'll get you sorted tomorrow. I also have peppers and aubergines.

If anyone else fancies some seeds, just yell before I seal up the seed box again.

        Looking good Eatenbyweasals.

If I remember rightly, you mentioned before that you have Grushovka. If so, do you prune it at all?
I've got three, and so far haven't, but they are incredibly bushy and very tangled in the middle.
I'd always thought you shouldn't prune determinate varieties - but these do seem like they need a bit!

I didn't prune it much at this stage. I took out some lower leaves to keep them off the soil and some higher leaves later to get more sun to the fruits. Later in the year, I also stopped any new shoots from developing, so as to direct the plant's energy to the fruits already set.

IMG_20230701_150938.jpg I haven't grown Grushovka this year, but next time I do, l might cage it. This is Latah, which is notoriously ungovernable, but seems to be doing well in a cage. Might have to start nipping out the new shoots, though.

                Ok, wil do the same.
When would you advise stopping the new shoots? Late August?
I have two in pots, so can put them in the polytunnel to prolong the season.

Ah, I have Latah too. Much shorter than yours - and yes very unruly!
No ripening tomatoes yet though, contrary to my naive expectations.

I've just searched back through the thread and the photo shows that when I moved the plant inside in late August to hasten ripening, I'd already removed all the new shoots and almost all the leaves. That's the nearest I can guess.

Same here. I chose it for being early and I'm distinctly underwhelmed.

                          A person on another gardening forum asked the following question. I copy & paste it here as it should make an interesting conversation;

"I'm never sure what to do about the leaves on my tomato plants - should I cut some of them off or not ? or should I shorten them ... ?
All advice will be welcome [IMG]"

I leave them alone. At least until the end of the season and you are trying to ripen off the late ones, then I might cut them all off.

I give mine a small trim if needed.
