Tumbling Monster(s) is a lovely little tumbling gem that's ripening well despite the gloomy weather. Lots of flavour, too. I'm saving some seeds to share out later. IMG_20230726_055518.jpg

Ripening for seed. Dwarf Wild Fred, Dwarf Mary's Cherry, Der Kleine Doctor, Brad, "Massivkotka", Tumbling Monster(s), Gerald's Mystery, Cherry Roma, Petit Chocolat, Lost Marbles, Ron's Carbon Copy, Santiam Sunrise, Isis Candy (allegedly, IMG_20230726_062206.jpg although the fruits turned out to be ribbed plums, earning them the working title "Vaguely Scrotal").

I got the seeds from Germany, @Balc . It's a selection from Tumbling Tom.

Indeed you can, its what happens with supermarket tomatoes. Bu for my money, I prefer to ripen fully on the plant, and pick and consume while they are still warm. Refrigerated toms need to return to room temperature for flavour, although a quick zap (20 secs) in the microwave is a good second best.

                  A little advised needed please:
Should I cut these tomatoes off- I don't want them liable to infection?

First photo is a tomato that had been bruised and now crusted over
2 other photos are of the same tomato which I think might be due to, too many tomatoes on truss "I believe I should have thinned them out to provide space to grow "
They feel firm to the touch and to me look heathy

That bottom picture is quite normal for beefsteak varieties, you get deformed fruit usually one per truss and its often the biggest and first flower on the truss to open.

Last time I grew a beefsteak type I took the first flower off of each truss it avoided most of the misshapen ones but I dont think other people probably bother.

I'd leave them on as there is no sign of rotting atm.

Thank you pete, hope after all this, they taste sweet- if not I will be making plenty of chutney which I am sure will go down well with the family

These little so and sos have been munching on my tomatoes, causing quite a lot of damage. I suspect there's a few more but I can't see them. I've not had caterpillars eat toms before
