    Lovely photos :dbgrtmb:

How many stops did you open up the shutter for the snow picture?

All the snow tends to trick the camera and it's so easy to get nasty grey photos from lovely white views.

    Exposure 0.004 sec (1/250)
    Aperture f/4.5
    Focal Length 4.5 mm
    ISO Speed 80

visited one of the gardens I am busy landscaping .... everything still looks ok

funnily, the shrubs/plants that I mulched with a thick layer of well rotted farmyard maunure have no snow around the bases (the snow has melted) .... those in the same area without mulch still have snow

planted a small fatsia in a corner a couple of months ago .... it's only approx 7 inches tall .... poor thing was completely covered in snow .... cleared the snow and it should do well (these are as hard as nails)

I've no faith in any the 'forecasters' as both the Met Office & BBC (who use their data, sometimes with a lag) were both suggesting earlier today that the Sat night temp here was going down to -9 °C (at the nearest town) and we get temps about -5 °C lower than that on the outskirts of the village.

When I checked their forecast again this afternoon the Met Office were then forecasting only -2 °C in the local town, and it took the BBC hours to similarly adjust their forecast.

But when I checked on another site this morning - Weatherbadger.com - 7 day weather forecasts and charts for European and North American locations they were forecasting -7 °C (nearest town again) on Thur night, and now they're forecasting av -7 °C for
      the next 5 nights

However, the Met Office are now forecasting av temps average of only -1.6 °C for the next 5 days.

So all those conflicting forecasts make me think the 'forecasters' haven't got a clue these days until it actually happens.

        Scrungee, you expect too much:)

There are so many variables, its best to make your own conclusions from looking at met office charts, (which are up dated frequently), the wording is just a general assumption.

I read an interesting article a few days ago

i may be wrong, but this is how I undersood it

best forecast in the UK is the Met office

BBC gets their info from the Metoffice

best info (according to another gardening forum) is United Kingdom : Weather Underground

you need to check constantly on this site, as they update it continuosly .... and they are linked to hundreds of weather stations in the UK and the rest of the world

I have been following this site for the past few weeks and they are pretty accurate for 2 day forecasts

wunderground is OK provided you have a station near you. I don't which is a shame.

I used to use metcheck and that was pretty reliable, but it seems to have gone offline a lot recently :(

        http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/7days.asp

and on a smartphone accuweather has been excellent, it lives up to it's name in my (very short) experience of using it.

        When I went out at 7.30 p.m. it was -2C and when I came back at 11.30 p.m. it 0C. It's still 0C.

Much warmer here today, although the ground is still frozen in my garden because it's fairly small and enclosed.

Forecast for next few days is sleet, followed by rain on Monday. Positively tropical

You must have picked my forecast instead of Wunderland's :loll:

From the 0C at 2 a.m. it dropped to -2C at 5 a.m. and has remained there. The forecast is for a pretty balmy +1C but possible snow tonight. Then temperautres dropping a bit for the rest of the week.
