Hi Joolz, I don't know one round here; not one that stocks exotic groceries any how :frown:

I keep looking in Asda and to lesser extent Tesco, Asda especially do stock some unusual stuff although the amount varies from week to week, I know they regularly have Papaya, Mango, Persimmon Fruit, Custard Apples, Dragon Fruit, Coconuts, those mini Bananas, etc and I have picked up Lychees, Rambutan and a couple of others from Tesco.

Asda also have a small section for exotic root veg; Eddoe's etc...:dbgrtmb:

Hi Sal, I'm intrigued by the possibilty of growing a coconut, will any shop bought one do or does it have to show signs of growth??? and how would be best to attempt to get one to grow? :)

I've bought things from www.theasiancookshop.co.uk - bit limited on fresh fruit (and you have to buy before 9am Monday for next day delivery). I think their curry-kits have great flavour, and we now use those instead of take aways, and I bought a couple of dozen Eddoes off them to grow in the garden :)

Fantastic collection, if only we had the summer temperatures here!
I have grown many of the plants here under glass but apart from Custard Apple and a few Citrus, not got many of them more than two ft high before dying off.:frown:

Hi Joolz, not looked in Sainsbury's but the best stocked supermarket I've seen for exotic stuff is Morrison's when I was visiting my parents in Cheshire, they have LOADS of stuff :dbgrtmb:

I`m actually waiting for a reply , regarding the overwintering part of it ...and how it does it .....

www.theasiancookshop.co.uk Thank you Kristen , they have lots of fresh roots including eddoes , seeds and fresh veg.....really good must keep this for some late spring order. I wonder if the seeds they sell are reable for growing ...I`ve managed to grow beans , peanuts and rice bought from Tesco

Bilbo coconut it`s easy to germinate , but the hardyest to keep alive as , apparently need lots of light ....another palm I`ve germinate from seeds it`s acai berry , the palm is actually really nice but died after 2 years , maybe my fault , but can`t get any berry anymore ....also fresh date and pistachio will make palms out very easy .
I raccomand to try dragon fruit very easy and impressive flower.
I can even find opuntia fruit , but not one of the hardy opuntia.

Just come into this thread, Sal. Obviously Tony is a man of many talents:thumbsup::snork: I have no talent in any direction whatsoever so I'm always jealous of anyone who can play one musical instrument.......but somebody who can play two musicals instruments at the same time......I mean I've just got to "hate" the Guy!!!!!!!:heehee:

Growing all those plants from seed is no mean feat so pass on my congratulations and admiration to him!!:snork:
