Good call Bayleaf! Goggles are a must if you are hedgetrimming or strimming. Infact if strimming I would recommend white disposable overalls and gloves. Especially if you are strimming any area frequented by dogs! A mushed slug in the teeth isn't particularly pleasent either. It is good to remind people about safety as that is often overlooked.

A white disposable suit!!!!? surely not, Im afraid I cant think of anything more ridiculous a normal boiler suit perhaps but not a space suit.

I use a forestry helmet with a clear polycarbonate visor when strimming, farr better than googles as it protects the rest of the face also you can wear sunglases underneath it.

The one thing Im carefull about is hearing, these days I always wear ear defenders.

TBH Ive never worn googles with a hedgetrimmer, it simply doesnt flick anything up.

I didn't used to use a white suit until I was clearing some waste land at the back of a housing estate. I ended up covered in dog doo and had to wash everything, a white suit you can chuck out! Forestry helmets are the best with strimmers, especially those with earmuffs attatched.
I have been hit in the eye when using a hedgetrimmer but that was when touching up. Agree with you re ear muffs.

If I turn up on a job and see dog **** I refuse to work untill theyve removed it, even if it means additional invoicing to the customer for time lost. Sounds extreme but Im not steping in thier dog's excreta due to thier lazziness.

Any job with mounds of it when i come to quote I wont quote for as in my experince those who cant be bothered to clean up after thier dog will also have the same attitude to promt payment.

Wish I could have done that. Was working for the council at the time on public open spaces which are pretty much a dog poo magnet :(

Dont mean to bring this older thread back up but did you know Because of an initiative between the arboricultural trade bodies and the Health & Safety at Work Executive, all professional chainsaw operatives -tree surgeons for instance -should now hold a 'chainsaw' certificate. (Since 5th Dec 1998).

So if youve not got one you cant use it for work there is also something similar regarding weed killer
