Top dressing

    This is something I have only ever done once. It was a LOT of back breaking work.

    But well worth it in the end.

    I recently moved so am spending this year renovating the lawn. Stopping weed growth. Breaking down the thatch layer. Regular mowing. Scarifying. Aerating.

    I use a Stihl MM55 for scarification and then aeration. Give a great result.

    I scarify a lot until I see just the grass and the soil. Really getting all of the dead stuff out.
    Then I slip on the aerating tool and give it a good going over. This gives some neat deep lines into the soil.

    If the weather stays fine I might get around to ordering some Rolawn top dressing and brushing a load in.

    Scarified , aereated , top dressed and overseeded 'bout 4 weeks ago, starting to look a lot better already :)
