I bet you wouldn't. While I've never dealt with a car recall fallout, I've had many others, including a fallout over a car where I discovered the fault.

I've never yet appointed a lawyer, or used the courts. It's never proved necessary, because often, once you make it clear that you know your rights, their obligations, and the process for enforcing it, they often back down. I'm pretty sure they know with 99% certainty that you're bluffing, but they also know that 1% doubt could prove very costly and time consuming for them. That's even true if they win, because they still have to defend their case, which means taking managers time, compiling notes, writing letters etc. It's simpler for them to just sort the problem. It's even simpler and cheaper to ignore the problem, if they think they can get away with it.

Can't you just demand a courtesy car (a safe one) until yours is fixed? I think that is a reasonable request, and they might get their act together.
      Are Vauxhalls affected?

Well. all I can say is, that several organisations and groups of car users are suing Takata as their lawyers are advising them that's the best route rather than the Car Dealers who are only the Agents for Car Manufacturers. The Car Manufacturers have been investigating the problem [which is now over 5 years old and still continuing as Takata can't find or solve the problem]. I think you'll find that because it is now a global case the Law Courts would shunt it onto to the European Courts [who are not renown for their speedy deliberations and they will get tangled into the already international legal wranglings and USA legal systems. As I said, I think you'd need vast financial resources and time and as an individual you'd be past driving age when/if it ever got settled. I've known new car buyers who have resorted to just leaving their just bought car blocking the Car Dealers gates. and taken the ignition keys, because of the the length of time and lack of co-operation from the Dealers who kept referring the case to the Car Manufactuers who passed it onto.........ad infinum:dunno::wallbanging:

The problem in this case, NG, is that Takata haven't found the solution to the problem and it's been on going for years. Everyone in the supply chain is ducking and diving, pointing the finger at Takata and disclaiming responsibility.:dunno:
