@shiney, yes they do use electrickery, but I'd guess no more than a small Hoover.
I really like my steam mop. Please forgive me for what I'm about to say....I wanted to know just how much cleaner the floor was with the steamer so I washed the floor with a new mop head, flash & water, left it to dry then used my steam mop, the floor pad on the steam mop had a small amount of dirt on it, not massive amounts but enough for me to know the steam mop is better! My floor has a slight texture to it & the dirt gets trapped in, I've been known on several occasions prior to my steam mop to scrub the whole floor on my hands & knees!
It's all personal preference, I still like to mop the floor sometimes because I like the smell of flash & Zoflora disinfectant ! Using the steam mop you don't add any cleaning product so there's no fresh smell!

 

You say about no smell, but I was going to try something. Give the floor a quick going over with the flash etc, on a standard mop, then sanitise the floor with the hot steam mop whilst still damp

Possibly not the most exciting Saturday night posting .If you are steam mopping a textured floor or tiled floor, this type of mop head gives a superior cleaning action. They are called coral mop heads ( 'cos they look like coral )

 

My ex-partner used her steam cleaner on MY deep fat fryer, I went to use it and it blew up!

The first one I bought was pretty much a tub/bucket on wheels type and that has a lovely long hose (which is enormously useful for getting into places the newer one couldn't possibly manage). When I worked at the charity shop, they used a similar one for "ironing" (well, steaming) clothes

Second one is similar to yours and with Ozzy's coat and this weather it is completely essential for keeping the downstairs floors clean!

Did yours come with a base plate? It is funtastic for spot cleaning the carpets and getting out deep stains.

I've used mine on windows but do make sure it isn't freezing weather or you could end up with a bigger mess than you started with

Also, if you plan on using it in your oven, have a towel on the floor by the oven because you may still need to wipe out any gunk the steam lifts off

Mine wasn't very good on the oven, hence why I keep it for the bathroom, where it is very useful.
The big mop does a great job on the kitchen floor though, and its very easy to twist it into corners and small gaps.

 

Sorry to hear you didn't have much success with your oven 'Geeze - can't imagine why not though

Maybe I've just been very lucky with the two I've bought? I know not everyone has had success with them.

 

I think the hand 'one' is weak in comparison to some. Its pretty old, but ok for bathroom jobs (around taps, toilet fixings, etc) It also does a good job on the shower screen.

 

... speaking of which: when the plug holes/drains need a bit of a clean ... pour some soda crystals over the plug hole (they're not crystals anymore, just dust/powder, but still do the job) until it forms a little hump over the plug hole; then, heat up your steam cleaner with the nozzle attachment and when it's heated aim it at that heap of soda crystals. Voila! Used to just pour a kettle of boiled water over them but that washes them down the hole too fast, but, using the steamer means it dissolves just a bit slower and breaks down all those nasty greasy bits that end up down there
