Wouldn't mind a bauhinia seed or two, thanks. [IMG]
    Acacia longifolia, I already have.
Vaguely remember the albizia/acacia, but post another pic.
    The plumeria looks massive.
Washingtonia does grow fast, but I bet it seeds everywhere as well.

We had this discussion last march and still couldn't ID it. the growth is albizia like but the flowers are acacia like! a friend gave me this one bought as albizia julibrissin rosea which it obviously was not These were the pics I took at the time, it is now 7ft high and still flowering. As they are not very clear I will try and get a better one tomorrow.

Do you have any seed of that strongy?
I think its acacia, dont know why, it seems too free flowering for albizia.

Strongy, the pom-pom flowers are identical to A melanoxylon, the Australian Blackwood or Blackwood Acacia, but the leaves are wrong as it doesn't have ferny fronds, so I think it could be A mearnsii, the Black Wattle ...

... or it could be the Plume Albizia ...

It is definitely not albizia lopantha, I grew that in Havant many years ago. this one has a single flower round and white and I have not found any acacia like it, it has not and will not set seed even though I have tried pollenating it. I'll upload another pic in a while.
I'll send some seed Pete, I have your address still.
LoL pm me for seed. I bought some Bauhinia seed from Jungle Seeds last autumn not knowing I was to find them on holiday. Mine are now nearly 3ft high but have been under glass all that time. [IMG]

I took these today but the flowers are not that clear.Unlike most acacias they are single and not in clusters.

It looks very similar to the plant I was trying to ID some months back.
Perhaps mine was more leafy, but the redish shoots are similar.

Evening, Strongy and Pete. I can't do it tonight (because t'other half has to scan my book and he's watching a movie) but I'll put up the A melanoxylon tomorrow ... it definitely has the pom-pom flowers but the leaves are not fronds!

I won't bother to put the pic up then because I agree. Strange as to what it is.

By the way, we did our usual Thursday shop in Silves (the old Moorish capital here) and the "main road" ha, ha (TINY) is lined with Palms on one side and on the other a mixture of Jacaranas, Albizias (rosea) and a variety of trees I don't know ... it looks fab ... especially since the Albizias are in full bloom now ... aaahhh! And then there's all the Oleanders lining the tiny road over the river that comes into a T-junction. [IMG] A joy to go shopping!

It is ... the flora never fails to amaze us here.

All I can say about the Kew Gardens specimen is that there are no flowers to make any identification ... obviously you haven't been back there in flowering season? Dread to think when I was last at Kew ??????

Just to give you an idea of Silves ...

... sorry they're so tiny but I pinched it from somewhere (and I guess you get the idea) .... but this is the size of the town virtually end to end ... Modelo (like Tesco) on the far left and Lidl on the far right. You can see this road horizontally which is lined with these trees I've mentioned and the crossroad coming up from the middle ..

... and this is it at night ...

Shopping is such so pleasant here ... [IMG]
