I know, I did say it was tiny, but you get the general idea of the size of the old "capital" ... two minute drive through!

On another tree note, LoL I picked up a few seeds in Florida two years ago, a few Parkinsonias and one that I didn't know. This one has now grown into a small tree about 8/9ft high and I recently found out what it was, it was growing everywhere in Cyprus and was being harvested by the tractor load. You mentioned it in the collectors thread about carats I think, I am now the "proud" owner of a common Carob tree not the exotic I thought I might have! :D

Oh, but they are SO popular here ... mentioned again in last week's The Resident newspaper. I like this guy, Stuart Merelie ... he owns an exotic palm / garden some way east of us but I've got lots from his (it was his father's business before him). You just may be interested in the entire article this month ...

Interesting read LoL. I presume your garden isn't big enough for Albizia J. I have four Albizia J Summer Chocolate all about 1ft high from seed that I bought from a supplier in the US on ebay, they have a slight reddish/mauve tint to the leaves now but should turn chocolate/bronze when it gets to about 2ft (so I was told) ;)

Hi,Strongy. I bought a pack of A Julibrissin seeds a couple of weeks ago (may have been whilst you were on hols) in our new Leroy Merlin DIY shop. Got about 200 seeds for €1,64. I sprinkled a few in a pot and I've got five treelets already 3-4cms tall! From the pack it looks like a dark pink flower but it doesn't say. I'm going to keep mine in pots on the ballustrade wall (here I go, LofL in Pots again).

Went to one of our exotic garden centres this afternoon and got a variety of things ... therapy shopping so have to do a bit of Yahoo-ing (don't like Googling) to see what I've got. One, though, is the Thunbergia erecta with lovely purple flowers.

They had a Bauhinia PPS (?) about 10 foot tall for €9,95 and I was tempted but I've just ordered some seeds from Chiltern, B galpinii ... plus Chilopsis, plus Pistacia, plus Kennedya, plus Hardenbergia, plus Billardiera ... eek!

PS Thought you'd enjoy that article ... shame Stuart can't spell worth a damn when it comes to what he sells!

That's lovely, revin helen. Yes, that's a Bauhinia variegata, I think! Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. Where did you take the picture?

I was hoping you'd read it as well, Pete! We have lots of good articles like that in both The Resident and the GoodLife. The other writer, Clive Goodacre, is also very good, he's in the Western Algarve. Each write every month, or sometimes twice ... I'll copy them if I think they are of interest to you guys! [IMG] This month's article in GoodLife is shady gardening! Ha, ha! :D :D

It is probablly the same one as the seeds I brought back as it has the camel foot bi-lobed leaves, it had obviously flowered early summer or even spring. Where and when was the pic taken Revin Helen?

That's callistemon Viminallis, it puts mine to shame. There were some in Famagusta but had few flowers on them. I don't know if my Bauhinias will flower but if they do judging by your pics the wait will be worthwhile. [IMG]

I'm bringing this back up again because my sister, Kedi-Gato, has now told me she was confused with a shrub with the maple leaves and rose flowers (the now decided Abutilon) and the tree I am about to display.

This is a sapling about 30cm tall and the "nuts" which it came from which were found under the tree last year.

Does any one have any clues as Sis and hubby only remember it had very pretty flowers but neither can remember the colour ??? !!!
