Not a knock here either - second year running too. Mind you, its just as well as we didn't really have anything in for it.

No callers again this year . I think I need to change my Halloween theme . The pigs head and three black candles on a pentangle drawn in the blood may be putting people off :dbgrtmb:

We've never had any trick or treater's,but that's what you get when you live in the middle of nowhere and so much muck on the roads that white shoes turn brown

Halloween is called Hop-Tu-Naa on the island and there's a little song that the children sing when they come to the door.

I don't remember doing trick or treat either but we did do duck apple in buckets of water, had apples on string hanging in the doorway of the kitchen and carved up a swede to make a lantern. :snork:

We've been to a scary halloween event this evening in the local woods. We saw witches, a blood soaked crazy butcher, little red riding hood, snow white, none of the dwarfs because we were told that they hadn't come back from the mine when expected (to which I very nearly retorted that there's probably been an accident and they're all trapped, but then I remembered that it was a kid's event and its dark, and we're in woodland surrounded by witches and the real dracula, and we've been told there's a big bad wolf roaming around the woods somewhere).

It was meant to be for kids, but it was pretty scary for us grown ups in parts. For example, we had to go through a pitch black tunnel maze at one bit, and a clown was in there who was only revealed by a strobe light.

My son was terrified at one point, and even cried, but when we got out, he exclaimed 'That was fun, lets do it again'.

Don't like the creeping americanisation and commercialisation that goes with it.

Up here it used to be that you went out guising, usually dressed in something unusual and had to perform in order to earn some treats that were most often sweets, nuts and the odd sixpence if one was lucky.

Was there actually such a thing as a 'sixpence'? I always thought it was just something my dad's generation invented to baffle us kids:)

What a waste - Sainsburys had a huge display of pumpkins at their door tonight, selling them off for 10p each. Bargain for anyone that likes pumpkin, but you just know that a lot of these are going to end up in the bin.

Just tried to scan one for you but it didn't come out very well.

Yes, it was a little silver coin about the size of the current penny. Worth half a Shilling.
