Gaz,,your garden is so many different plants ive still got to order a t-rex and im thinking maybe hang on till autumn/winter and get a larger size with the wagnerianus cheaper x
I do have a daft question thou ......i hear uk crickets in the grass on walks so does having tropicals in your garden attract them more to ur garden

 

Would some hidden speakers and a CD (or would that be an MP3 now?!!) do instead?

Another prob daft questions gang...i have been googling but still not well up on cannas,i wanted to ask about canna lillys..can they be grown as bog/marginals(as ive seen them on aquatic sites) or are they being sold on them sites because they resemble water iris

Yes (possibly not all of them, but certainly some/most and maybe "all" of them).

Not to be confused with Thalia delabata which looks a bit Canna-like, and is a nice, tall, shallow-water plant

... and assuming you didn't mean "Calla" rather than "Canna"?!! I don't think Calla Lilies like to be marginals, but their near-relative [both are Zantedeschia] the Arum Lily does

Cheers kristen,no i do mean canna not calla , im going to google Thalia delabata..im curious now i have just minutes ago read that canna lillys appreciate bog conditions on The gardening know how site but i will make i ask before i purchase some
i have a small bog area(front of pond) that could do with some colour so they would be great to brighten it up x

Not sure it "brightens it up" though. Arum's would, but they are more late-Spring than Summer I think, so Cannas are probably your best bet.

Lobelia cardinalis (poss Queen Victoria??) would add a splash of colour, and they will take wet-feet

 

Thats definatley tooooooooo big id need a lake it does look nice thou ,ive got enough with the gunnera large size wise!
Ive got 3 lobelia but they dont seem to be growing this yr ( about 3 inch high)
And i thought with all the wet weather they would be showing off,the one in the pond basket is taller than the other 2 and them 2 plants are 2yr old x

but i have ordered 3 lots of seeds up to now off diff sellers x

 

JWK (and others - but forget who was first, sorry) got some from USA this Spring, with good results I think.

Jungle Seeds do them ... but dunno if they have a large/interesting enough range?

If you just want some any-old-ones for bed-fillers whilst you get some more specific ones sorted out I can let you have a decent quantity of Canna warscewiczii seed.

Hi Kristen. That was a very generous offer, so thanks for that What I'm after is something that I can plant (probably in a pot) to grow as a single specimen, or several specimens. I seem to recall that I checked out Jungle Seeds before, but nothing caught my eye. I've had Cannas before, but they all had that virus thingy, so seed seems to be the way to go.

I thought id miss a good seller then i bought canna indica from seedspot,tropicana black indian shots from cactus jack and canna x generalis crozy hybrids from seedaholic...all on ebay no idea if they are any good but there doesnt seem much for sale on the net at mo
