Hi silu, i have it as a deterrent crime is not particularly high in my area but not unheard of, only last night a elderly neighbour was targeted luckily she is on holiday and they didn't manage to gain access she's 97 bless her she doesn't need this at her time in life, ive spent most of my day running around getting new anti-snap locks and installing them and replacing a door panel least i can do for her,

Crime is on the up and rural crime is more common than it ever has been its only a matter of time take precautions now before the horse bolts, first job get some anti-snap locks, these new type of burglars have no morals its not unusual for them to hold you at knife point in bed and demand.

Hi Jiffy no one can see what your doing connecting PC/laptop to your TV via WiFi you have to pair them together but if its not for you just hard wire it, you will find google and your service provider the worst for watching what your doing use a VPN if them watching you is a concern Epic Privacy Browser, a secure chromium-based web browser that protects your privacy and browsing history | a free VPN privacy browser is a good start.

When driving 44 toners we allways had to drive with doors locked when hauling whiskey and any other booze, because one day one driver stoped at traffic lights, some one jumped in and put a syringe in his neck and tolded to get out and they took the lot

My thoughts are that with most cheap CCTV recordings (unless you see a neighbour come out their house and onto your property) all you will have is a recording of an unrecognisable stranger nicking your stuff.

You need to be constantly watching the monitor (or train a dog to do that for you), or have a motion detection alert system. I want one that will give smartphone alerts/viewing plus enable remote conversations with callers.

Try and get a 1080 set up and put the cameras at head height. Its amazing the amout of times footage of the top of a baseball cap or hoodie is all that is captured.

As they say if they want in they will get in regardless of your security. Im lucky where im based there has only been one burglary of a shed in the last 30 years, touch wood.

These voice over ring products are great as they enable you to shout at the burglars " give my stuff back and my doggie too " as they scamper down your path with your stuff to their waiting van.

At low level you will still get the same and your camera pulled of the wall at least you have a chance of tracking what direction they went and maybe a make of car, all we can do is try and deter them, but like you say if they want to get in they will.

With a system as obvious as that (compared to concealed cameras) used to cover external external areas, I'd be worried that if somebody up to no good outside realised they'd been caught on it, they may be tempted to break in and take your recording equipment, or if covering internal areas they'd smash your home up looking for the recorder. Having a separate secure recording online would mean you could watch them them doing it.

I have an 8 camera monitoring system, but the monitor is nothing to write home about...I can see most of my 2 and half acres. It's recorded, if I am home I may see the BAD GUY, but if he visits me when I am not home, the cops can get him. BTW, the BAD GUY will have more to deal with than just me seeing him....

Your obviously not up to date with tech :sofa: its setup to store images to cloud, you will have issues trying to hide cameras as they have lights to see in the dark.
Create a cheap CCTV system that uploads to the cloud: Grandadevans.com
